As my username suggests, I am lefthanded and place great value on education in my life. I have been a teacher for over a decade and a boomorang student for most of my life. I am working on my PhD in educational research and have a goal to complete it by the age of 50. Which leads me to another goal, to be around 120 pounds when I walk up to get my diploma.

I have one child, a 19 year old son, whom I adopted as a single parent. He is presently attending college about 100 miles away. His goal is to become either a cameraman or work in TV production. His is very ambitious and hard working, and usually gets where he aims to go. As you can probably tell, I am a proud mom.

I have battled my weight about all my life. I am counting on this program to finally get me to my goal, and keep me there.

My hobbies include reading (usually limited to research literature at this time), crafts such as knitting, walking, riding my bike, doing puzzle books (especially number puzzles).

Motivating Quotes

There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results

Fall seven times. Stand up eight.

Being defeated is often temporary, giving up makes it permanent.

My Goals:
A recent blog discussed setting New Year's Resolutions and suggested giving three. Below are my wishes with general plans for accomplishing them. 1) Reach my fitness goal - weight and wellness by continuing to use the guidance from Spark People. This includes watching what I eat, exercising, and trying to get enough sleep.
2) Improve my financial situation. Start recording finances and avoid procrastinating when it comes to paying bills (I am a classic example of a person with ADD).
3) Take my qualifying exam. Devote at least half a day each week to read and research.
