Sophie Goes Fit

I have been on a health path since May 28th 2011 I started off at 269 pounds. I have regained my life through healthy eating, exercise, and mindful thinking. I am a new me and I am adding years onto my life as well as allowing myself to have more fulfillment in my life!

I am starting to use sparkpeople more in hopes that it can bring me even more motivation and I can be positively influenced by other people changing their lives too. Hopefully in time I can help others feel ...

My world has been transformed by my health journey and I am the happiest I have been in an extremely long time! I move with a lot more ease, I don't get winded walking up steps, I run to my car from a store and my energy level is always higher.

Glad to hear you are doing well, and maintaining. The holidays got me off track, but I am doing good, and back on track. I am a huge BL fan, and hopefully it inspires me to lose during the show. I am having as much trouble at 215, as I did at 300. I keep bouncing. Time to get past that. Not many excuses after New Year's..lol.

I have been sick. Ended up in hospital for a day, but starting to feel okay now. I am still exercising and losing weight, even when sick. Down to 218.6 today, so pretty happy. I was 215 last year, and been struggling ever since to get back there. My weight loss is slower, but I have added 1000 calories a day to my menu. I was losing 5 lbs a week, then cheating on the weekend, and gaining 4-5, so day to day it seems sluggish, but it is steadier.

Like your goal to play sports like when you were little.. I am playing basketball with friends twice a week now. Not very strenuous. Just a group of old guys, but it is better than not being able to play at all.

Health wise, every test has improved, I am now off my cholesterol meds, as well as 2.5 years off my diabetes meds. I may have a heart valve replaced next summer/fall, which should help. The best news is.. my heart has increased in strength from pumping 16% of its volume with each heartbeat to 45% ( 50-60% is normal ). The low rate of ejection was the reason I had to get an ICD. My cardiologist says that if I walked in today, she wouldn't give me one.

Now you have to tell me how you are doing. You were gone a while. I assume school got you busy, and SP just got pushed aside,How much did you gain/lose while gone, and did you keep up the exercise? Hope you are doing fine.

Hi Sophie. I am doing good. A little up and down you know how that goes. I have not been on in a while either, I guess that is why I am up and down. But I did loose three pounds from my Thanksgiving gain.....LOL. Hope you are doing well with everything. Have a great day~ Joselyn

Glad to hear you are back. Clearing out some of the people who have moved on, and glad you aren't one of them.
