I Think I Can

I joined Sparkpeople in order to have an easy way to be accountable to myself for achieving my fitness goals. My original specific goal was to finish the Jingle Bell 5k fun run in December, which I did.

Now my goals are to stick with my running, strength training, Pilates and spinning. I want to maintain my weight between 112 and 115 pounds, avoid injury and stay healthy.

My Goals:
My current goal is to improve my 5k time by 10 minutes.

My Program:
When I joined Spark People I had NEVER run before!! I started the Rookie Running Program in September 2011 and I finished it on November 15. WOOHOO!

As part of my training program I walked/ ran the Trick or Treat Virtual 5k Race and I was thrilled that I was able to finish it doing more running than walking.

I finished the 2011 Jingle Bell Run 5k and I actually ran the entire distance. I had never run more than 2 miles without walking before the race so that was a real thrill.

Since the race I have been working on improving my time and my endurance. I do sprint intervals on Monday and Wednesday and long slow distance runs on Saturday.

My current distance PR is 6.2 miles, which I did in a virtual 10k race in October.

My goal is to finish a 5k in under 40 minutes. I am planning to sign up for the Groundhog Jog 5k on February 2d so that will be my first chance to try for that PR in an actual race.

It is so much fun to read you have exactly the same chairs as the ones on the Mickey Mouse picture! I love these chairs actually. 50s? They are both simple and elegant because of the back.
I had been to the Puces before and I always felt confused. This time I thought it wasn't happening, so I went to the Tourism Office and asked them for a map. They were very helpful too. They organise tours by theme in the various markets, I think I might try to take one later this year!

emoticon I am grateful you stopped by! Thank you for your comment on my blog 'Too hot for a hike... Just kidding!!!' This is one of the things I love about where I live: I am so close to Paris, and yet it feels like the countryside.

How wonderful that you shared your memories of the Cité Universitaire and your Bastille Day there!!! The Maison de l'Inde still looks beautiful, I didn't post any picture of it because I didn't find it especially 'typical', but it was very nice.

Thank you so much for your kind comment on my blog 'Sunday morning walk around the Buttes-Chaumont'. It is said that Paris is made of many different villages... But I must say that in Quartier d'Amérique, it really does look like a village (when in many Parisian 'villages' you need a lot of imagination to see one!!!).
I hope your week started beautifully!
