Im not sure why I'm smiling so big, but I love it!
Jan 2011, Waiting for my cousin to pick us up in San Juan, PR
Back in NYC! Looking for work as an RN, and am so excited to start my new career!
Also, am a part of BLC 20 AMBER AMAZON WARRIORS! Great team and I'm excited to work hard and get results out of this 12 week challenge! I'm also pumped to help others do the same.
I'm jogging again and it feels so good!
Feb 2011: Back to Bmore, spent my 6 week break in NY and the Caribbean! Had a fabulous time w Joy while on a cruise and in PR. The background is Crashboat Beach, in Aguadilla, PR.
I gained 8 lbs or so during my trip (yikes) and I'm DETERMINED to get them off and need to look into maintenance measures for weight loss. I LOVE Sparkpeople. I love getting and giving support on this journey, leave me a comment or add me as a friend! And keep on Sparking!
Oct 2010: Moved to Baltimore to go to Nursing school. Lots of time in class, but I do like it! Not as much time for fitness (do you think that's an excuse? RIGHT ON!) Ok. Am working on working out more consistently. Really love the way I feel when I'm on the more fit side of me.
If you're just joining SP: it rocks. It really is an amazing space, where you can connect with wonderful people and get tools to change your life.
I really should be studying but one last thing:
I completed my first ever 10 mile run recently. I came in at a 9:40 mile average. Not bad considering I didn't train much for it. (Not too smart, either, but I'm working on that.) Best of luck to all!
I am a 28 year old office manager turning full-time student making healthy adjustments to my life. These changes include eating healthy and running regularly. My ultimate goal is to make healthier choices automatic. Another goal is to be present everyday. The opportunity for change is possible in the present, and I feel empowered when I use my power to make choices that improve my health and help me meet my goals. I love sparkpeople, love sparkers and feel that this is a wonderful space to meet my goals and encourage others to do the same!
I weighed in this morning at 141.8. In August of 2008 I weighed in at 140 (I got this info from medical paperwork I recently reviewed). In August 2008 I was training like a crazy person to pass the CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test) to be able to join the FDNY as a Firefighter [I passed!]. I hoped to be in the fire academy later that fall or even the following spring but things didn't work out that way. In the meanwhile I trained on and off. (Probably mostly off). The workouts were tough but I didn't watch what I ate so I didn't lose weight. Recently, I renewed my commitment to be ready for the academy when the department gets the funding to organize another class, and if that never happens: I want to change my life. For the first time in my life I am counting calories (I learned that fruit and vegetables have such little calories for such wonderful goodness). I'm shredding cheese to use instead of snacking on it in chunks and above all I'm looking for a balance.
I love trying different things, and this year I will complete a 10 mile race. I'm inspired by so much: the Sparkers that have lost the weight and kept it off, women with beautifully toned arms and backs. My motivation: wanting to make, build, create a better me, wanting to know what it feels to run w less fat around my middle, knowing what it will feel like to see 125 on the scale when I step on.
I'm committed to working out and know that changing my life happens everyday, little by little and that I will achieve my weightloss and fitness goals.
I'm here again: just checking in. Been trying to eat more healthy. Its been tough, but good and I've working on finding a good balance between eating healthy and staying disciplined while still feeling satisfied and happy with my eating. I haven't really lost a lot of weight... or almost anyweight: I'm at 149 now, but I feel good about the work and progress. I jogged 1.5 miles just the other day and did bikram yoga. Bikram yoga rocks and I highly recommend it.
I've been going up and down with this whole weight loss and working out thing. My life has been stressful and the first thing to go, and the most important and beneficial routine is healthy eating and a strong commitment to exercise.
Im here because I want to look fabulous in a bikini this summer.
I was initially here because I was training to be a firefighter. What a head trip! But I trained. Hard. And it was effective, I was doing things I couldnt imagine doing. [I was doing things while thinking I couldnt do them! It was an uphill battle because for a long time I didnt believe in myself.] But I persevered. It was like stretch or die a little bit like A Bridge Called My Back. I passed the CPAT. But with entrance to the academy over a year away (if Im lucky)- I have lost motivation and a little bit of hope.
This is me rekindling the spark. My spark. My hot bikini spark. My firefighter BLAZE.
