Flowers are friends; and food.
Hello everyone! I'm so happy to have been able to find a site like this that is so overwhelmingly supportive. I've struggled with my weight for years, which I'm sure isn't a new story, and it really hit me that this couldn't continue when I went off to college and couldn't make it to my dorm room on the second floor with out passing out of exhaustion! My highest weight was a grand 250 in high school - 9th and 10th grade to be exact - and I realize that there are just too many health risks with being that heavy. My mom has been my biggest support, in her own unusual way, and she's always very patient when I come up with some crazy idea to get us active and make the whole family get healthy too. My dad suffers from diabetes, which puffs up his feet too, so even though he can't stand to sit still for very long, he also can't be very active, so I'm trying to coax him to eat better as well. He doesn't want me to get diabetes like him, so I usually use that against him, and can get him to cut down on the greasy fast-food. I don't think that being a rail-post is desirable, and I detest those false images that the media put on us - men and women alike - about what it means to be "truly beautiful," but as for me, I just want to be healthy and feel good about myself. So now, at my current weight of 203, I feel a thousand times better than I used to, and I'm still aiming for the day when I can get up in the morning and say "I've never felt better in my whole life!"

My Goals:
My goal is to live a healthy and active lifestyle, because if I always feel like crud and have no energy, how can I expect to live a full, exciting life?
My Program:
It's hard, so I'm trying to trick myself with little changes. A glass of water at every meal, arriving early to class so that I have time to always take the stairs rather than the elevator. Choosing smaller plates, rather than those big 10-in plates, and if it doesn't fit on my plate, it's not going into my mouth. Little changes make the large changes easier to swallow.
I've just joined the 10-minute daily workout streak challenge, as well as the Sweatsuit to Swimsuit Bootcamp and another 7 Day Bootcamp, so I'm going to stick to those to help kick off a (hopefully) successful exercise regiment!
Personal Information:
I'm Missy, and I'm currently an undergraduate at Columbia College, South Carolina. I completely understand how busy life can get, and motivation is hard to come by, so I'm always looking for buddies! Having support has made a world of difference.
Other Information:
Reading has to be my all-time favorite activity - with movie watching being a close second. I love being transported to another world. Recently I've discovered the wonders of audio books - it's a great way to get me on a nice long walk, because I'll be so engrossed in the story that I won't want to stop!
