So I Can Keep Going

I am over 60, and I care more about feeling good than size or weight. After being on a diet for most of my life with predictable roller coaster results, I now focus on self-love, acceptance, and care. Being active and eating good food gives me energy and increases my enjoyment of life -- plus stopping the things that used to hurt. There's too much I want to do to waste my time being sick and tired!

My Program:
Spring 2015 5% Challenge

Fitness:
I work as a walking tour guide, which keeps my daily step count high. I want my intentional exercise to complement my work by strengthening my knees, ankles, hips and back. I just reactivated my gym membership, and will be consulting a trainer in the near future. Further plan details will follow that meeting.

Nutrition:
Hey, I live in New Orleans. I don't do boring food, okay?
I am gluten-free and dairy selective (no whey). I limit my sweets to the ones that are worth it as sugar is also irritating to my system. I buy as much local produce and seafood as I can, and I limit meat to 4-5 meals a week. Rather than focusing on numbers like calories and grams, I pay attention to my hunger/satiety signals and how I feel after eating different foods (immediately, in an hour or two, and the next day). I cook most of my own meals, starting with whole or minimally processed food, and when I go out, I ask a lot of questions.

Personal Information:
I just moved back to NO after being away for 40 years. I never knew home could feel so good!
