Welcome to my Spark page.

This past year has been a year of learning, changing, and revelations. I have seen so many things in me that need to change and in my life. I have seen that I need to stop letting my circumstances control me and take my life back, to live a moment by moment pro active life not reactive. I have already made great strides this past year and by the end of 2017 I plan on completing this goal. Sparkpeople, and my weight loss and journey to the best health I can have is part of it all. I know I can do it, and I know you can too!!!

"The Happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts.

You have power over your mind - not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.

Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking."

Marcus Aurelius

The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.

Believe you can and you’re halfway there!!

Thanks my friend for that lovely apple cider goodie dear Margaret! Yes it has been 8 LOOONNG years! I'd say the first 5 were really fun and profitable. But these last years have been a drudge...sorry but so true!

Our problem is coming up with something else that we can still make a little money. We really have no social security to speak of since we have both been self employed for so long.

I thought I had our retirement covered nicely with some commercial property we owned but we were unlucky enough to have the 'tenant from hell' who made our lives miserable by hogging up more than his share of the property and making our other tenants lives awful.

We spent so much money fighting him for years and years with attorney fees and you KNOW the only people that win in those situations are the lawyers.

Finally he did exactly what he had planned all along he beat us down to the point that we demanded he purchase the property or get out. We finally found a lawyer that would have gotten him out.

I do have some angry feelings against DH because he is the one that pushed me to take out a clause in our contract that was specifically to avoid this issue. I love DH very deeply but he is NOT nor ever has been a good business man. He works hard and he was the instrumental force that made our construction biz successful just by the physical aspect the work demanded...but dealing with customers, or people like this tenant at the commercial property he gets mowed down every time. STILL to this day if there is a decision that favors the customer or protects our livelihood he will go with the customer EVERY time. Even when they are clearly flaunting our contract specifications.

After 39 years...going on 40 years in May I've learned that this is who he is...I do my best to protect our interests...but honestly it is exhausting and depleting work.

I finally just put my FOOT down on cutting his toxic mother and sister out of my world...he would never defend me as his wife against their manipulation and nasty treatment. I thought summer before this last one...when I was again forced to go back as our vacation so he could see her and I was left stranded with no car....hey...if he won't defend me I'll defend myself.

Sometimes we just have to realize real life is not always the stuff of our perfect relationship dreams is it?

    And...life goes on...right?

Hugs to you my dear friend. Hope your challenge is going well!

Beautiful page dear Margaret. Yes we made it through Hurricane Irma...but oh my what damage she left. We were lucky but still have to replace an air conditioner, have one out at our business also. Weather is still in the 90s and the humidity is SO bloody high it's not a good thing. We lost 15 days of business in September due to the power being out at the gallery. That hurt are already ailing summer...but we are hoping for a good season. Please add your prayers...brick and mortar mom and pop shops are really suffering since the online purchasing is so popular these days.

But we are blessed as the damage could have been SO much worse. I'm praying for so many people throughout our world who are suffering horribly due to catastrophic world weather events. emoticon
