Fresh New Start

I'm 42, married and have had a bit of a battle with my weight for about the last 15 years. At 27, I lost 50 pounds and kept it off until I was 31. In my 30s, I gained 25 back but three years ago, I got back down to goal weight on Atkins and have kept it off. I'm still playing around with my diet but I'm very happy to feel in control of my eating habits. Sugar is a real enemy for me.

My Program:
I use SP for the inspirational blogs and message boards. I'm not a good tracker. Mostly I'm trying to get the exercise I need. I am committed to averaging 30 mins/day of honest exercise and I have been more mindful lately about the quality of my food and the portions I eat. My next obstacle is water!!! Gotta drink up!

Well, it has been two weeks since last you posted on the Atkins Team... I am hoping that you've seen some progress since then, either on the scale or the measuring tape (you said you were stalled).

I know what you mean about not giving up your occasional glass of wine. In order to lose weight, we all need to make changes we can live with -- that we can sustain! Cutting out the pleasure just doesn't work!

And you know the last 10 pounds are the slowest and the hardest. SP says that it should take you MONTHS to lose them! But that is because they advise that you pick and choose carefully right now the things that you will change -- the smallest things -- that are sustainable. And it can be difficult to figure out what those little things are, 'cuz they are so small! It is easy to "see" the big things -- but you are past that!

STAY STRONG! Forget that! This has nothing to do with strength; it is about FINESSE! Stay determined! It is like a treasure hunt! Challenging and exciting!

I'm from Vancouver, moved to Montreal for love (rather against my will) seven and a half years ago. Was a good move since it led to my marrying the best person I've ever met but the city has never grown on me so it's time to go home and we are both very excited about it!

Wow that IS a far move! Being from Seattle myself (and having always lived within 30 mins of where I am now), I can't even imagine moving that far away!! That will definitely be a FRESH start!! Which can be quite exciting!!! Are you re-locating due to a work situation?
