Time to celebrate accomplishments!

~Page update Nov 2011~

I've recently decided to "fire" the last 5lbs or so that have been dragging me down ... meaning that I will no longer allow them to haunt me, taunt me, or otherwise have more weight (pun intended!) than they deserve. I choose instead to be motivated by what I have accomplished in the past few years:

I've recently decided to "fire" the last 5lbs or so that have been dragging me down ... meaning that I will no longer allow them to haunt me, taunt me, or otherwise have more weight (pun intended!) than they deserve. I choose instead to be motivated by what I have accomplished in the past few years:

*quit smoking (March 9, 2010)
*started eating healthy
*learned how to work out...and learned that I like it!
*started running (and fell in love with it)
*lost 25lbs

Yes I still have struggles. I recognize that I have a history of bad relationships with food - from starving myself to abandoning all restraint; from obsessively strict eating/weighing/measuring to secret binges. I am still on the journey to finding the happy place with food, but I have a greater awareness of my personal demons than I did before.

I started on SP as a way of tracking my calories. I stay on SP because I have learned incredible things here - beyond the basics of nutrition and movement - but mostly I stay because I've also encountered some pretty great people that make me laugh, cry and everything in between!

Yes, by all means, log snow shoveling as a workout.

Thank you so much for your words of support in this horrible time for me. I ran the 5k in 10:55 !! I'm so happy and smiles all the way. Guess that means I didn't run fast enough. Your right running is a great outlet

I saw the "Don't stop, people are watching you!" sign in the last 4k of the Ottawa marathon and it was THE sign that kept me going to the finish! I saw it again in Toronto too!

LOL at the post about the 5k you're running this weekend! The beating your hubby part sounded familiar. My husband and I did the Warrior Dash together in May, the first event we've ever done together and he doesn't ever exercise. But a few months before the race he started talkin' trash about how he was going to beat me. REALLY? I don't think so. But then neither of us trained much for it, and in the end I decided to be nice and stick with him. I was worried I'd need him to boost my big booty over a wall our something. But he did great, didn't slow my running down at all. I couldn't help notice as we crossed the finish line at the end that he stretched out a bit and got a time that was 1 second faster than me. Next year, it's on like Donkey Kong!
