I'm back!

I'm back on track! I had fallen off the band wagon there for a while, but here I am...again. I'm still at 250, so I did gain weight while I was gone. My biggest excuse is that I can't afford the cost of produce. We use alot of the 80% lean ground beef in our diets because of the cost. I plan on changing that. I want to look good in jeans again. I also want to look good in tank tops by summer. The past couple of summers I've worn them anyway for comfort, but I know they weren't pretty. ...

My Goals:
My long term goal is to get down to 150 pounds. Currently I''m 253 and it''s all my fault! I want to feel good about my appearance. My immediate goal is to just get in the routine of getting off my butt! It''s so easy to sit and watch tv.

I want to wear size 10 jeans, look good in a tank top, and not have my thighs rub together when I''m wearing a skirt!

My Program:
I''m completely responsible for everything that goes into my mouth so I need to be held accountable to myself. To do this all I have to do is keep track of everything that I eat, which will in turn make me more aware of what I''m eating. I also mentioned that I like to sit and watch tv (or play on the computer) so I''ve added cardio and strength training to my program. Bike riding is a fun way to get my cardio in, and since I have no strenght training equipment I''ve decided that I can use canned veggies.

Personal Information:
My name is Kristel. My husband and I are both 25 years old, and apparently love is blind, because he looks at me and thinks I look the same as when we were 16. He's definitely a good guy. We've got 3 daughters together. They are all in elementary school and are wonderful kids. My oldest particularly enjoys joining me when I'm doing an exercise video, while my youngest enjoys sitting and telling me that I'm stepping to the wrong direction (we all get a good laugh). My middle daughter is very encouraging also, she's my coach who will tell me what a great job I'm doing. I'm very blessed to have such a wonderful family!

Other Information:
I work full time outside of the home, as does my husband. We really enjoy watching CSI, Criminal Minds, and NCIS. I think that we will be utilizing our VCR more often so we can let our cushions on our couch fluff up again to regain their shapes. I''m startin to see imprints from where we all sit!

Wanted to say thanks...been having a really rough time of it recently...threw my back out, thought I was going to lose my job, got an ear infection, and got sick all in a week. (Sigh)

I guess it was like a bunch of dominoes falling into place all of a sudden...so it was hard not to feel discouraged. However the nice thing was that I had to eat healthy...all I did was eat fruit, small servings of meat, no butter...almost no bread. And stopped drinking sodas.

Basically, what I was able to eat when I was pregnant with my son.

And I have lost from last Sunday from 211 to 204. Which is very fast, but it is what works for me apparently. I also was barely excercising since I was flat on my back for a week...I could barely walk to the bathroom and back...but I was doing stretching excercises in bed so that helped.

As to the produce? Yeah...I know what you mean. It is getting really expensive to eat healthy at all. Complex carbs are so much cheaper...but something I have found is that the better the food is for me as far as quality goes, the less of it I need to feel full.

I also started my first garden this year...and have been growing eggplant, tomatos, watermelons, and canteloupe. Not only were they fantastic tasting, but the plants were cheaper than I could have bought the produce for at the market. Many times over in fact.

1 canteloupe plant cost me a dollar and it produced at least 5 melons...and oh my god...that was the best freaking melon I have ever had in my life. I cannot eat the schlock that they sell in the grocery store anymore. My melons were orange all the way through...smelled incredible, and tasted divine. None of that orange and green stuff...with the hard green shell around it.

I recently learned while taking a class that most of our food travels to us from about 1500 miles away...is picked almost 4-6 days before it ever gets to the store, and is usually underripe. Or overripe and starting to rot a day after we buy it. So next year I am going to give it a go to try to raise my own produce for the most part.

Look up Square Foot Gardening at your local book store...usually borders...it is a really easy to use non intimidating gardening book.

And good luck with your goals...I know that you can do it.
