I have my super hero cape on

I'm one of those people who thinks something like "what is there to do around here anyway?" and then that enthusiastic person in my head jumps up and looks around and says "Girl what isn't there to do around here! Just look at it." And then I start to giggle at myself.
In other words, I can't seem to decipher if I'm an optimist or a pessimist; so let's just go with slightly pessimistic-Optimist (with a capital O).

I'm often the butt of my own jokes, and really no one else ...

I'm often the butt of my own jokes, and really no one else is really safe from it either. Or maybe I just drink too much coffee. Who knows.

So down to why I'm here. I used to be a long distance runner, everybody's friend, and everyday I just rammed through life full of energy and cutting sarcasm. Along the way somewhere some sucky stuff happened, and then some great stuff happened, but I stayed all caught up in the sucky while that girl in my head was tsk-tsking me about all the fantastic-super-amazing life was happening. So I gained 40 lbs. but I gained a daughter too. A super enthusiastic one, no less. See there I am, doing it again. Time to get out, reach for some goals and test myself. I'm pretty sure I'm ready, maybe more so mentally than physically. But every day is a new start. My goodness, there certainly is a lot of self-help book seeping in there. (:

Hi all. The topic caught my attention because that is my thought exactly. I'm ready to reclaim myself! I've been on Sparkpeople on and off, but never really got deep into it. I'm changing that. I've been on the Nutrisystem diet for about a month and am finally almost finished with my food, THANK GOODNESS! It tastes awful! I told my husband I can't wait to start eating real food again. Anyway, I'm going to need to be held accountable a lot. I tend to get excited about my program, but then I get lazy and put it off for one day then two and on and on. I've always liked Sparkpeople because it is the easiest way to track my food and workouts. Thanks in advance for keeping me honest. I look forward to hanging out with ya'll and making some new friends. emoticon

Hello and Welcome to Sparks!

Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time. A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.

1. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.

2. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.

The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Spark friends are here for support, motivation and encouragement. Good luck on your journey to a healthier lifestyle! Again, welcome to the SP family!
