I'm going slow - only tracking 10 lbs at a time, and making sure I can do that without looking at the big picture.

To me this is a journey of realization. I've slowly been realizing how much I hurt myself on a daily basis. I step back and take a look at my body, and I see it's reaction to constant stress.

After all, I chew my nails, I pick at my fingers, at any pimples I can find. I bite my lips. I sleep in positions that leave me waking up feeling sore. I'll go into obsessive moods where I'll forget to drink or eat - or I'll do the opposite and I won't be able to stop snacking.

I'm away for the summer, in Tucson, AZ, and hopefully this time away from my normal setting can give me a chance to forge new and better habits.

My Goals:
I'm heading on down to under 160. I haven't seen 159 since at least eighth grade.

But it's ten pounds at a time, and I'm doing a lifestyle change. Focusing on other things, too!

My Program:
--I am tracking everything I eat. For records. Not to make myself feel guilty.
--I am tracking ALL of the exercise I do. Even when Spark gives me that annoying "You've exercised too much" message.
--I am trying to limit caffeine and refined foods. Trying to stick to the basics instead of stuff out of a box.
--I am trying to gain muscle and tone through cycling, walking, strength training, and yoga.

Personal Information:
I'm all about taking care of myself - even though it's something very, very new to me.

Thought I would stop by and say hi. I haven't been doing a good job at being a Spark Friend lately so I am working on trying to do better. I am trying to start visiting all of my Spark Friends at least once a week. I hope all is well with you and you are staying healthy!

Ouch!! I'm sorry to hear about your poison ivy attack! That sucks!! I've never had poison ivy yet, and I'm grateful for that... I hope it's gotten better now!

It's always easier when you have someone in close living proximity trying to live healthier with you. It's nice just to have someone to relate to and share your frustrations with. I hope everything goes great for you and your roommate!

Yeah, I'm a pretty slow runner as well. My best friend used to run cross country in high school and freshman year of college, but we've both gotten out of shape and are about the same running pace now (between 11 and 12 min/mi). Since she used to run XC, she kicks my butt! Makes me run uphill for a mile before we do anything else, haha! I'm hoping her butt-kicking will help me out. :]

Thanks for checking in on me. Things aren't going so great... I've gained some weight back (ok, like 5 pounds... so kind-of a lot...), school just started, and I'm just having a hard time getting back in the swing of things. My best friend says we'll run together every day, so hopefully it will get a bit easier... we'll see.

How have you been doing?
