CHANGING FOCUS/CHANGING TICKER.....Have decided to shift the focus of my journey and just get over what I've accomplished so far!!! Need to get on with it and concentrate on where I'm going!!! Think the approriate word is "complacent"....realize I'm way too comfortable where I am, but know that I am not where I need to be!!! Am staying with 225 for goal weight - that may or may not change when I get there!!! New ticker as of today!!!!! Will blog later on becoming "re-sparked".....
UPDATE 11/09 - Am now 51 and haven't quite made it to my goal weight but that's o.k....know it's just a matter of time. Of course, I'm still not sure exactly what number that is......have a real problem with those "charts"!?!! Am sure that if I weighed what they say I "should" weigh, it would not be pretty....so that's why I'm taking it 10 at a time and shooting for 30 or 40 more!!
These days, maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle is the only way I know and, I believe, the only way to go!! If you're new here, then Welcome to Spark People!!! This could be the start of an amazing journey for you, but it is entirely up to you where that journey will take you and how it will end. If you're already a "sparker", then thank you for checking in on me.....I appreciate it!!! One of my hopes is to do something with the "new" me. I want to encourage others to decide they are worth it, to find the internal strength to set aside their fears, to educate themselves so they can take charge of their choices, and ultimately developing their own healthy lifestyle......I highly recommend it!!!!! It's a journey worth starting!!!

Celebrated my 50th birthday on 12/1/08, have lost over 100 pounds and feel like a new person!! So far, this has been an unbelieveable, totally awesome, and incredible journey!! Probably 50 more pounds to go to my "goal weight" but will decide by clothing size - 4 pants sizes so far and think I want to lose another 3 -- maybe 4?? Figure I'll know when I get there!!! Just know that I AM NOT DONE YET!!
Still working on getting fit, but have come so far, have so much more stamina and feel so good when I'm being "active", it's a wonderful feeling and I like it!! The choices that I make every day about food, activity and "sharing the spark" are MY choices. Over the last 18 months or so, I have developed a lifestyle that works for ME....YOU can do the same thing for YOU!!
In today's world, there is so much information available about losing weight -- so many "diets" and "plans" -- usually a new one every week!!! I know I cannot DIET --all I do is think about what I CAN'T have. I want to focus on what I CAN have!! My journey has been a lifestyle change - a total overhaul physically and mentally - based on choices and changes that work for me!!
I believe the key to weight loss is making a commitment to one's self based on the right reasons. I believe each one's journey will be unique because we all have different tastes in food, different physical abilities and different financial resources. I believe each one of us has to make changes based on our own choices - this is, afterall, our own journey. And, I believe we have to make changes that WILL last a lifetime - our healthier and perhaps happier and probably longer lifetime!

03/10 Get RE-SPARKED!!Refocus on my ultimate goal - to live a healthy life for the rest of my life!!! Commit to a regular exercise schedule & start planning weekly meals again.
11/09 Work on the next 10 pounds of the last 30 or 40.....all summer I've maintained new, unwavering healthy lifestyle by making healthy food choices and increased activity. Now that winter is coming, it's time to buckle down to "real" workouts and actually tracking food!! Will take it 10 at a time from here on out!!!
12/08 Keep doing what I'm doing. Keep increasing "running" time on treadmill. Keep buying smaller size jeans. Find ways to share the spark!!
02/08 Stay motivated to get to goal weight and stay there. Own a pair of blue jeans that fit loose. Feel comfortable on a bicycle. Get off blood pressure medicine.
03/10 Continue living this new healthy permanent lifestyle - but get myself totally "back in the game" EVERYDAY!!!
12/08 Make healthy food choices and move something everyday!!
Lots of small changes add up to BIG results. Still eat breakfast everyday and smaller meals throughout the day. Bring "bag-o-food" to work every day. Be active (work up a sweat!) at least 30 minutes everyday - treadmill, walking, DVD's, including Jillian's 30 day shred (ouch!!), resistance bands, some yoga. AND, disco dancing IS exercise.
02/08 Make healthy food choices. Breakfast and lots of water daily. Use the treadmill bought a few years ago and alternate two cardio dvd's. My ongoing motivation is I'VE BEEN FAT FOR ALMOST 50 YEARS; I WANT TO BE FIT FOR THE NEXT 50!
