Hello from Southern Oregon

I was on here as Dandylion42 for years and then had spinal problems and thyroid problems and forgot to come here and share.
I love to read, walk on the beach, play with our two small dogs, take care of my husband of 50 years who had a stroke in 2002, serve meals to the homeless, CRB (citizen's review board) Board to keep Foster Kids moving to permanent homes, Bible Study and Church.

My Goals:
I am living where fresh fruits and veggies are more available and I have no excuse not to include them in our menus and snacks. My goal is to keep adding more of them and getting off junk foods. I need to lose weight for a knee replacement.

My Program:
I am walking every day with my cane and fighting to eat healthy so that I can have a knee and hip replacement this Fall. I write down what I eat and drink and try to stay within 1500 calories a day. Now to start the chair exercises.

Other Information:
I got a kindle for Christmas as I needed more large print books and can get the font any size I want it now. We just moved and so I have two new libraries to find and their large print sections to go through. I stay out of the sun due to skin cancer on my face and have a MOHS skin cancer surgery scheduled in Aug. with plastic surgery to follow.

Oh!! I'm so glad you found a little relief. Just one more little pill.....
(be careful of constipation.....hate to say it.....but it's a serious side effect of opiates, and you don't want to be caught by surprise. Ask the doc what to do to countereffect it).

Puppies are so much work....but when you see them, your heart melts! Have you posted photos? Sorry you had to put the older dogs down, but if they really didn't have quality of life, it was the humane thing to do. I imagine how much you must miss them.....

Take good care.
Hugs. Libby emoticon

Hi.
Just checking in to see how you're feeling. Better, I hope.

Now's the time to be pampered. Right!!? Let others do stuff for you.
Take care, Marianne.
Just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you.

That's horrible! They must have stronger stuff for your pain! I'm on Fentanyl patches (opiate, also)....and I supplement it with oxycodone when I need it. You really shouldn't have to suffer - and undo the good that was done with your knee!
Is there a pain management department in your hospital? They should be up to date on the latest pain meds. Suffering chronic pain myself, I'm hypersensitive to pain in others.
Is it better just lying in bed or on the sofa?
I'm so sorry ....... not a good way to begin the new year.

This is a way out thought.......I don't know much about hips (yet)....but it's a joint. Could they inject the gel they used on your knee to provide temporary lubrication in your hip?? Is that a crazy thought??

Hang in there, girl. Help is on the way. Just do the minimum - to avoid causing pain.......

Big hugs..

BTW--my Costco DOES have electric carts. I just never think to use them. The floors are concrete and very hard to walk on.....so I'm always in pain after a run-through the store.....

Hi Marianne,
I was so sorry to read that you're in so much pain. Isn't your surgery scheduled for February? If they can move it up=that would be great.
What are you taking for the pain? There are many good pain killers out there (I should know!).....so you shouldn't have to suffer.

In addition to all of my other joints, I'm getting some pain in my right hip. I'm trying to ignore it at the moment.

I hope all goes the way you want it to.....
.......and I also want to wish you all the best in the New Year! Hopefully, you'll be pain free when this is all over...

Thinking of you.
