Hello from Southern Oregon

I was on here as Dandylion42 for years and then had spinal problems and thyroid problems and forgot to come here and share.
I love to read, walk on the beach, play with our two small dogs, take care of my husband of 50 years who had a stroke in 2002, serve meals to the homeless, CRB (citizen's review board) Board to keep Foster Kids moving to permanent homes, Bible Study and Church.

We just moved within 8 blocks of our daughter and her family this July 2011 and are away from the ocean for the first time in my life. Hotter here and the blessings of family.

My Goals:
I am living where fresh fruits and veggies are more available and I have no excuse not to include them in our menus and snacks. My goal is to keep adding more of them and getting off junk foods. I need to lose weight for a knee replacement.

My Program:
I am walking every day with my cane and fighting to eat healthy so that I can have a knee and hip replacement this Fall. I write down what I eat and drink and try to stay within 1500 calories a day. Now to start the chair exercises.

Other Information:
I got a kindle for Christmas as I needed more large print books and can get the font any size I want it now. We just moved and so I have two new libraries to find and their large print sections to go through. I stay out of the sun due to skin cancer on my face and have a MOHS skin cancer surgery scheduled in Aug. with plastic surgery to follow.

I have been blessed with a fairly easy rehab from my hip replacement surgery. I have Home Health in twice a week and PT twice a week. I drink a lot of hot prune juice to keep constipation away and I love bran muffins.
I am walking with a cane now and will soon be on my own. It will be two weeks on Monday that I had the surgery. I highly recommend it!!

Oh!! I'm so glad you found a little relief. Just one more little pill.....
(be careful of constipation.....hate to say it.....but it's a serious side effect of opiates, and you don't want to be caught by surprise. Ask the doc what to do to countereffect it).

Puppies are so much work....but when you see them, your heart melts! Have you posted photos? Sorry you had to put the older dogs down, but if they really didn't have quality of life, it was the humane thing to do. I imagine how much you must miss them.....

Take good care.
Hugs. Libby emoticon
