2015 brought a lot of changes in my life. In April, we began living nomadically. I've lived in Arkansas and U.P. Michigan, and later worked at the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. Now we're working at Big Bend National Park in Texas through April.

During this time, I've broken out of my shell a bit more, met some interesting people, and slowly regaining my health. I've gained muscle, lost some weight, and find my endurance and stamina increasing with each passing day.

Two years ago we attempted a thru-hike on the Appalachian Trail. After 6 weeks of this life-changing "boot camp", I had to call it quits due to a leg injury that refused to heal.

But now we've set our goal to walk the AT this year. We've been saving all we can to cover our living expenses, buy new gear, etc. I'm stoked about giving this another try. I pray this is the year we can complete this goal.

My Goals:
I want to try to lose 30 lbs. by April 15, 2016. This isn't the overall amount of weight I want to lose, but it's a good start. I want to continue to build muscle and tone to have a stronger body.

I want to hike at least 8 miles once a week, and I would like to do a 2 or 3 day hike before leaving Big Bend National Park this April.

My Program:
Whole Foods with focus on fresh foods, organic when possible.

Low-Carb, Low-Sodium, Low-Cholesterol, and Low-Sugar.

Walk 5x a week minimum for at least 30-60 minutes*.

Other cardio with focus on toning, endurance, etc. 3x week.

Strength training 3x a week.

Stretch daily to help with pain issues and achieve greater flexibility.

*I will also include hiking and backpacking. Also, as I drop weight, I may do intervals of light jogging in my walking routine, and I also want to try doing a little trail running.

I want to use the Food Tracker as my daily food journal and record how foods make me feel, what agitates heart palpitations, spikes blood sugar, etc. I want to eliminate foods that hurt my overall health.

I want to overcome caffeine and sugar addictions, and also eliminate processed foods & refined carbs, etc. from my diet.

Personal Information:
I'm a mixed-media artist from Indiana, married to my best friend for 15+ years who never hesitates to tell me I'm beautiful no matter how much weight I've lost or gained. I volunteer my time and resources helping charities in East Africa. I enjoy hiking with my husband and a local backpacking group. I have dreams of being a nomadic artist at some point in the near future.
