Hi! My name is Marge and I'm 72 (as of Aug, 12, 2013). I am a Sister of Mercy, born in Pittsburgh, PA, grew up in RI, and have been living in La Ceiba, Honduras and serving in Maria Regina High School since 1966 - over 47 years! (Can you guess that I love La Ceiba??!!)

That's when I finally reacted and began to be serious about dieting and exercise, and in April was down to 177 pounds. But I hit a plateau and couldn't seem to lose any more. Then at the beginning of September, my sister suggested I join SP. I did, and am very happy I did! Spark People is motivating me to really be faithful to a healthier life style.

My goal is to reach my ideal weight and continue to be healthy as I get older.

UPDATE - OCT. 20, 2013

Well, I have really slipped back, regaining most of the weight I lost. This does frustrate me, but as they say: "The only real failure is to stop trying." So in the interests of health, I am starting over. My new weight goals are :

Dec. 28: 170 pounds
April 15: 160 pounds
August 12: 150 pounds

I am counting on the support of my Spark Friends to help me reach my goals. I know it won't be easy, but I am going to really try.

I have not been very active lately on SP - so I hope to try to Spark at least 15-20 minutes a day, at least to track and keep in touch, at least a little.

My Goals:
My goals are to continue to be healthy, flexible and stronger, to control my blood sugar without medication (which I am now doing) and to hopefully also control my blood pressure without medication (I now take half dose of what I was taking).
I also hope get my weight down to 150 pounds. (I should probably explain that I weighed 177 when I began SP. But I set up my weight ticker with my original weight - 195 pounds, when I decided last year that I really had to lose weight. I feel it motivates me more to see how far I've come, rather than start at 177.

I'm hoping to reach my goal of 150 by my birthday, Aug. 12th, 2014.

My Program:
I am trying to exercise at least 30 minutes a day, drink 8 glassed of water(I NEVER drank water!) and stay within my calorie allotment. I also read a lot of articles to motivate myself.

Also I enjoy doing what I can to support and encourage others, just as so many people have supported and encouraged me!

Personal Information:
My name is Marge.... I am presently semi-retired. For 41 years I was principal and taught math at Maria Regina, our coed high school. Four years ago I decided I was tired, and needed more time for myself... now I work half-days(that's what it's supposed to be, but in reality, I still work most of the day!) in the school in the Pastoral Department. I am very happy with what I am doing.

I have two families - my blood family back in the US and my adopted family here in Honduras. (See my pictures).



Other Information:
I love to read, and to spend time on the computer - working (preparing PPT presentations for my pastoral work in our high school, surfing the web for information, and playing games for relaxation).

I am doing ok but dad isnt the doctor said today they saw noddlues on his lungs and they are small and 3 months needs to be retested .. Mom is just gone a year now and now this so I need prayers big time
