I am the person I most wanted not to be. As a child if you asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I said a mommy. As soon as I became one I knew that to lose a child would be the worst possible thing that could ever happen to a mother. I prayed it would never happen to me. But it did. I am a Gold Star Mother. Our youngest son was killed in the war.
There are times when I feel that I am the saddest person in the world. Yet my friends still love me. I know too many other bereaved parents. I try to be there for those who have just started the journey, though I know I canít take the pain away. There are too many of us. For those who donít know how we feel, we hope they never find out.
My best chance of dealing with this is to keep busy. Since my elderly mother lives with us now that doesn't seem to be a problem.
Life verse: Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. II Timothy 2:15 KJV
May God give you ... For every storm, a rainbow, For every tear, a smile, For every care, a promise, And a blessing to each trial. For every problem life sends, A faithful friend to share, For every sigh, a sweet song, And an answer for each prayer.
Thanks for welcoming me to your Sarcasm team. I just read your page and see you are a Blue Star Mom. My condolences and utmost respect on the death of your son. My son is a 2nd Lt. in the Army. His career is just beginning, but I know he'll be deployed at some point. You've lived my biggest fear. Many, many hugs to you!
