new and not so new

I am 55 years old and I need to change my outlook on life. I need to become more active and to be more confident about myself. I think that losing some weight will help me be more comfortable in my skin. As I age, carrying this amount of weight is very painful especially in my feet, I am at this point not able to do the things that I enjoy doing. I have become very self conscious and I know that losing some pounds will get me more active and out going.

My Goals:
My goals are simple. I need to get out of the obese range where my weight is concerned. I need to look good in my clothes once more and I also need to become more active. I don't have much of a social life and I think that I need one.

My Program:
I have began walking about two to three months before I re-activated my membership on Spark People. I lost about 15lbs then. I am currently walking more, I taken part in a 5k, I walked as fast as I could, I still am not confident about running, hopefully one day I will begin to run. I am using my treadmill almost every day and I am seeing good results. I have lost a total of 20lbs. in the last five months. I hope to lose as much as possible by the end of the year, I've set a goal for myself that I must not enter the new year more than 200lbs. so far I doing just fine. I also connect with my spark friends, my teams and also my nutrition tracker on a daily basis. I'm going great in my opinion.

Personal Information:
I'm from the Caribbean and I am married and the mother of two grown girls. I have no grand kids as yet my daughters are career oriented and they are not married. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. My husband is my biggest fan and he helps me on this journey by encouraging me a lot. My daughters also make up a huge part of my fan club.

Other Information:
I am a Christian ie a follower of Jesus Christ, one of my favorite quotes "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" I am literally trying to embrace this scripture to propel me to become more active and to live a disciplined life.
