As I had tried everything without success I decided to try giving up sugar, I did not really believe it would work, but boy it made am immediate and unmistakeable difference.
I now rarely have sugar or wheat products. Since July 2012 (in 4 months) I have lost close to 20 pounds and feel really good after a long time.... Oh and I can get into my old clothes again (albeit my old "fat" clothes). I hope to lose the last 10 pounds over the next few months and keep it off.

My Goals:
My goal weight is 125lbs.
Ideally my waist around my belly button should be 30 inches or less...good luck with that one !
I would like to sleep better and have more energy during the day. Yay !

My Program:
I am doing my best to give up sugar in all forms and reduced my intake of refined carbs .Walk at least 6days a week. Keep hydrated. Sleep earlier. Do some kind of core strengthening at least twice a week.
That's enough changes for now. I'll look at this again in a few weeks to see if it's working.

11/9/12 -I started this journey sometime in July ( I started on SP in April but didnt really do anything about it till July). Since then I have lost close to 20 lbs which is a lot for me and I have learnt a bunch of things about myself along the way. I no longer have those intense frequent cravings for sugar or bread. I sleep well. I thought my inability to get to sleep and stay asleep was age related...but obviously it was not. My hunger is manageable and I no longer feel like my gut is being twisted out if I dont get something to eat every 3-4 hours.

Learning is NEVER wasted! emoticon I would probably not be going except my dad now is in the throes of dementia, maybe Alzheimer's, so I figure I'd better go now...

Well, if the world ends Friday, we won't have to go to PA! Somehow, I don't think it'll happen...I'm just trying to maintain right now--dinners on Wed. and Thurs. plus whatever I eat on Tues. at trivia...yikes!

Thanks for the add. I have been looking at the Paleo plan, and I was wondering how it would work with the whole thyroid thing and trying to drop some weight. I have noticed that I do better on lower carb, and that was why I was looking at Paleo. Thanks for giving me the info...nothing like a little hope to start my Monday. :)

Josey and Patches were Jason's kittens I guess about a year and a half ago. They were the only indoor/outdoor cats. Jason is 9-year-old GS. Josey disappeared about 2 weeks ago, and none of the cats that do that here have ever returned. I hear there may be coyotes...Nosey adopted us a while back and we got him neutered, rabies shot, etc. He has become really sweet, but lives outside. Blackie is a tough old tomcat who has become a frequent visitor and seems to like us now. Don't know where the tuxedo cat comes from, but we see him occasionally. He's very skittish and apparently Nosey doesn't think we need him around.

I very much enjoy Robb Wolf's writing style. Haven't got to the actual diet yet. I looked for these Paleo/primal books at the library but they are never in and I didn't try to reserve them. I figured I didn't need any more physical books, since I have a ton of them, so the Kindle thing seemed like a good option.
