Hi and thanks for the add, I have done the same! emoticon

Well, it did work for me when I followed the plan as outlined. I usually did IF overnight until maybe 10:00 or noon, depending on if I got hungry, but no longer than 16 - 17 hours straight.

I do a paleo/primal hybrid because I am not going to give up dairy and I also allow myself non-paleo foods in limited amounts, as long as they don't cause me any problems. I basically believe in the 80/20 principle (Primal Blueprint) and also allow myself a free day to eat some of those "non-paleo" things that I enjoy. It works for me.

Right now however, I am carb cycling because I have gained back all of the weight that I lost last year. emoticon ...

How are your clothes fitting?... are they looser?... losing inches is a great indicator of your progress. If you are lifting weight you may be developing muscle and you will be smaller and maybe weigh more because muscle weighs more. Are you doing cardio?

I listen to Robb Wolfs podcast and I remember him saying that he didn't recommend IF unless everything you are doing is right, i.e., getting enough sleep, eating right, exercising... etc. He goes on to say that IF is a stressor and can cause a release of cortisol if you are already sleep deprived and under stress. Maybe you don't need to do IF right now and just give it a break... switch it up a bit.

I have also found, for me anyway, that I have to keep track of my calories. This is a big thing for me because although keeping track of what we eat is not recommended, if you find that that you are not making progress you really have to start tracking so that you know what you are "actually" eating. I eat a lot more than I think I am eating... I am not good at eye-balling portions... I really see progress when I track what I eat; so with the carb-cyling I am doing I have to keep track because during each cycle I have to stay within a certain calorie range and if I don't track, I won't know where I am. It is also a great reference for when I am not making progress, or start to plateau. Looking over my food diary helps me spot what I may be doing wrong,.

Your problem may not be IF it could be that you may be "under-estimating" how much you are actually eating.

I hope that I have helped. If you still have questions, just let me know. ~ Dee emoticon
