Wow, thanks, Marsha! Somewhere along the line, I realized that I could be kind to myself and get real when I needed to at the same time. All those things I resisted for the longest time because they seemed like too much work or "useless" actually DO work. Tracking, planning and prepping meals, weighing myself regularly, having a support system that I don't pull away from when I'm struggling, asking for specific help when I need it and taking an honest look at what I'm doing wrong when things aren't going as well as I'd like--they're all pieces of my puzzle that have come together and helped me work this thing out. I feel like my head's on straighter than it's ever been and it's not just helped me in terms of managing my weight. To steal from what NUOVAELLE once wrote, maintenance is a great life coach!

Thanks for commenting on my HM blog. I would like to do that race again, but not this year. Too close to a cruise we are going on. Maybe since you are faster than I am you will be ahead of the crowds.

There's nothing special about me -- you certainly can do it too. A good trainer does help and time -- I've been working out twice a week for 50 minutes a workout for 5 years now. So of course, it doesn't happen over night. But small steps really work in this area, I think. I don't do any of the "insanity" types of workouts. Mine are very much bread and butter workouts. Consistency and time are the key, imho. And variety, which a good trainer helps with a lot.
