Hi! You raise a really good point about the Lab and little kids and I am sorry to hear that you were once attacked by a dog. I was too once, when I was just walking over to a friends house and I wasn't hurt badly but I do know how that sticks with you, forever!
But your point is a good one. We don't have any little kids nor do any come over to our house but this lab is taken to the dog park and sometimes bad parents do bring along very small kids. (I do think that's bad parenting!) I am going to be very aware of that in the future and take her out if any kids show up. I'd hate to think she'd do something like that but because of her history, we can't be sure with her.
I am leaning towards getting rid of her, especially after reading your comment but have no idea where to start on that. She has a great hunting pedigree and I paid a pretty penny for her so she'd make someone a good dog, I'd have to make sure they understood that she's attacked other dogs three times now. (And this is over three years, so it's very rare, but still.) My son still lives with us and that's why we have the dog, he's only 17 and will be so mad at me because of course he doesn't see the potential danger and risk involved.
thanks again!
