Running on Full

I first joined SparkPeople in 2006 and lost 75 pounds. My weight has been stable at around 110 pounds since June 2007.

I started walking, and then took up running in the spring of 2008. It wasn't easy at first (I had been a dedicated couch potato all my life), but now I love it. I ran 7 races in 2008, some 5k ones, and some 10k ones.

January 2010 update:
I was pretty active in 2009. I ran 4 to 5 times a week and completed 13 races. I'm pretty fit, but I ...

My Goals:
My goal is to stay fit and active and to run a half marathon in 2010

My Program:
I run about 5km at lunch time with my running group at work, 3 or 4 times a week. In the spring, summer, and fall, I bike to work a couple of times a week too (a 40 km round trip). In the winter I try to make it to the gym a couple of times a week.

Personal Information:
I grew up in the Netherlands, but I've lived in Ottawa for many years now.

I have 2 daughters, who both live in Toronto.

I'm a manager in a telecommunications software company and I really like my job (most days anyway).

Hobbies include music (I play guitar badly and sing even worse), beading, and crocheting afghans.

Oh man! You didn't know about the hills?! You poor thing! LOL But it's a great run, eh? Short but challenging and sells out every year! I'll let you know if I do it again next year!

Hello !!!
I saw you on the Healthy Canada post and thought I'd pop by to say hi.
You've done a great job on your running .. wow ... I want to be like you !!!
I did the couch to 5K on my own this summer and have done my first few 5K's. Before that I had never ever ever ever run .. unless being chased.
I don't love the running itself but I know it's good for me .. so I do it.
I have registered for the 10 K running clinic at the Running Room. I'm wondering what the heck I was thinking .. but will start on Wednesday and hope to survive it !!!!
Nice to meet you !!
C.J.
