There is no finish line to good health!

Hi, my name is Tanya and I'm a foodaholic. What can I say, I like to EAT! I like to watch cooking shows, but can't say I really like to cook.

I want to "live" the healthy lifestyle. I am good at talking the talk, but sometimes I have trouble walking the walk. I do good for a while, then start to slough off and revert to old habits. Either not exercising like I should or eating too much or the wrong things. I like the way I feel when I take care of myself, so I find it ...

I like the way I feel when I take care of myself, so I find it unexplainable why I am on this roller coaster!

I finally quit smoking FOR GOOD (that needs an underline as well) on 2/14/05, and I am a puff away from a pack a day. So it's NOPE (Not One Puff Ever). Commit to the quit and don't cave to the crave. I take ownership of my quit and I will never give it away! I love to encourage others to do the same because quitting smoking is the #1 thing you can do for better health! Unfortunately I replace smoking with food and that's what got me into this predicament. I will NOT ever smoke again though no matter who, what or why!

I LOVE the wonderful world of SparkPeople and I love all the teams I'm on! I feel that SP has really helped me to not give up on myself. I like that it helps me be accountable, and is forgiving if I faulter. I have become a much stronger woman, regardless what the scale says.

Things I've done since joining SP in early 2006: 5K in October 2006, 2007 and 2008 for breast cancer with some of my fellow sparkers. I've also joined with some quitnet.com people to do a 47 flight stair climb in Feb. 07, finishing in 17:59 minutes for the American Lung Association.

Did it again on Feb. 24th 08 only this time it was 56 flights (1,098 vertical steps), finished in 18:26. Only 27 seconds slower, but 8 more flights! This year (2009) I did the stair climb in 17:04, damn near a minute and a half off last years time! Not bad for an ex-smoker. I did the Iron Girl 5k in August 2009 and finished with a time of 40:35:00, definitely want to try and improve that time.

I've taken a belly dancing class with a fellow sparker and enjoyed playing tennis with another one of my fellow Sparkers this past summer. I've also recently begun going to boxing classes at a real boxing gym with a friend of mine.

Striving for progress, not perfection.

LOVE MANY, TRUST FEW, DO WRONG TO NONE!

You have been smoke free long enough that what is in your chest is probably just a result of a cold you have now, just think how much worse it would be if you did smoke!
