Getting to my playing weight.

My biggest obstacle in my weight loss journey will be that there is no lock on our refridgerator door. Hi, I'm Ken! Been married to the same woman for nearly 30 years. We have a son and a daughter and I have a daughter from a previous marriage through which I have four wonderful grandchildren. My wife is "Sweetindy500", here on SparkPeople and I am very proud of all the progress she has made so far.

My short term goal is to be under 250 lbs. by our daughter's wedding on June 14, 2008.

I played a lot of basketball in my youth, hence my page title. 195 lbs. was not my playing weight, but it will be my long term goal.

I am a severe Type II diabetic. I found out in 1971, but chose not to do anything about it for 15 years. It took a toll on my body. I have diabetic retinopathy in both eyes, but it has cost me my sight in my right eye and my left eye is getting pretty bad. I've had 19 eye surgeries so far. I also have arterial blockages in both legs and feet and numbness in my extremities. I have difficulty walking and I use a cane. Linda is also disabled, but we take good care of each other.

If you want to know more, just ask.

Welcome Ken to SparkPeople and to the 100 Plus Club. With all of us and your wonderful Wife for inspiration, you will succeed! Stop in the BLUE BULLS Barn for the last week of this challenge and meet some more SPARKERS. You can do the challenges and questions right along with Linda. That way we will know if she is cheating. (just kidding Twiggy)
Good luck
