Getting to my playing weight.
My biggest obstacle in my weight loss journey will be that there is no lock on our refridgerator door. Hi, I'm Ken! Been married to the same woman for nearly 30 years. My biggest obstacle in my weight loss journey will be that there is no lock on our refridgerator door. Hi, I'm Ken! Been married to the same woman for nearly 30 years. We have a son and a daughter and I have a daughter from a previous marriage through which I have four wonderful grandchildren. My wife is "Sweetindy500", here on SparkPeople and I am very proud of all the progress she has made so far. My short term goal is to be under 250 lbs. by our daughter's wedding on June 14, 2008. I played a lot of basketball in my youth, hence my page title. 195 lbs. was not my playing weight, but it will be my long term goal. I am a severe Type II diabetic. I found out in 1971, but chose not to do anything about it for 15 years. It took a toll on my body. I have diabetic retinopathy in both eyes, but it has cost me my sight in my right eye and my left eye is getting pretty bad. I've had 19 eye surgeries so far. I also have arterial blockages in both legs and feet and numbness in my extremities. I have difficulty walking and I use a cane. Linda is also disabled, but we take good care of each other. My Goals:
Short term goal: get under 250 lbs. by June 14, 2008 - our daughter's wedding.
Long term goal: 195 lbs. by June 21, 2009 - our son's 30th birthday.
Because of diabetes, keep carbs low. Drink 8 cups of water a day. Start walking!
My Program:
Low carb diet. 8 cups of water per day. Walk. Use tracking tools on SP. Use support here and at home.
Personal Information:
Will be 60 years old 1/2/08. Life long residence of Indianapolis, Indiana. One wife, three children, four grandchildren. Enjoy NFL, NBA, IRL and NASCAR racing, Bowling.
