When the "skinny pants" that are so often my measure of my weight became impossible to zip around the holidays, I decided it was time to finally get things back into control. I downloaded the SP Food & Fitness tracker app for my phone and started logging my calories faithfully. I was shocked! I had been snacking and picking so much - going over my calories daily - no wonder I had gained weight! It was enough inspiration for me to join the SP January Jumpstart Challenge, which has given me the motivation to consistently exercise. I almost exclusively use Jillian Michaels videos - I'm slightly obsessed with her as a fitness role model, but no other fitness videos have ever toned me. Until it's warm enough to jog outside again, it's time for JM to kick me into gear!

I am "SkinnyMinnie" because I recognize a source of my struggle with weight and self-esteem come from the use of this particular term by my grandmother. Although I love her dearly, there was never a time I felt appreciated for being just who I was. Every time I see her, I am either a "SkinnyMinnie" (usually not a positive connotation) or I've "put on a little weight." There is never any in-between. I have only very recently come to recognize this moment of judgment as having a profound impact on how I have viewed and characterized myself. Today I call myself SkinnyMinnie to create a new meaning of the term - a positive, active, beautiful one.

My Goals:
To run - and enjoy - a few 5K runs a year. To get in shape and stay there. To look great. To be a strong woman.


My Program:
It's a mix of jogging and exercise DVDs: mostly Jillian Michaels and occassionally MTV Pilates. Occassional spinning classes when I can convince my husband to go.



Personal Information:
I am 30 and I live in upstate NY with my loving husband and our Chihuahua. I love to read, to learn new things, to cook and bake, and shopping.

    Psychological Timing
    If late = hostile.

    If early = anxiety complex.

    On time = compulsive.

    Can easily equate this to weight loss

    Too much = too much
    Too little = frustration
    Just right is never enough
