Living a healthy lifestyle involves doing things differently not perfectly.

The biggest thing that I have learned over the course of the past year is to not let my brain, limit what my body can do. It was so easy to listen to the body that was content to stay where it was. I learned to recognise when there was an actual physical reason for tiredness and when it was just my old nature trying to assert itself. Its amazing what the human body will do when you give it what it needs and not cave into what you think its telling you it wants.

My metabolism ...

My metabolism wasn't slowing down due to getting a bit (dare I say) "middle aged", it was almost non existent due to the fact that I fed it crap/junk, and stayed on the couch and didn't move.

The only thing keeping me from succeeding was me. It took absolute commitment, not just interest. And when the going gets tough and it will, it takes faith..... Faith that if you stay on the same course, change (even though you may not always see it the way you expect) will happen.

I'm following the "get up off the couch you lazy woman" exercise plan and the "take accountibility for what you put in your mouth and stop eating a bunch of garbage" diet.

I was born and raised in Eugene Oregon and currently reside in Vancouver Washington. The most interesting place I've ever lived was the Grand Canyon.
Single except for the 3 furry grandchildren as my mother calls them. Ziggy, Pumpkin Puss ("punk" for short) and Maxie.

I just your article about being so tickled you could actually run. What a GREAT story! I lost my Spark taking care of my father and regained almost all my weight and stopped exercising of course. Tried to run again but I was too heavy and my knees let me know. Now I'm at a weight where I'm going to try it again. I feel I read your article at the perfect time. Thank you for sharing your story and motivating me as well as many, many others I'm sure.
