Making time for me

I have a great career, a loving husband, and live in sunny California. Not much to complain about.

But I eat too much "comfort food" and make too many excuses about skipping exercise. I need to stop multi-tasking and taking on too many responsibilities, and increase my focus on me.

Goals:
1. Simplify my life
2. Increase my physical activity
3. Eat the right foods (in the right quantity)

Oh goodness yes! I am so thrilled to start going for hikes again. Every time I think of bailing on my workout I think that I'm making myself ready for a day-long hike in the near future. That usually gets me off the couch! :-)

Sloppy Joes

1lb ground beef or turkey, browned with some onion and green bell pepper. If you don't like onion or green bell pepper, leave them out.

After the meat is cooked through & veggies the way you like them, turn the heat down a bit and add:

1 jar of Homemade brand chili sauce

It's the one in the small, roundish, fat jar and it's usually right next to the Heinz chili sauce. I've never used the Heinz so I don't know if it's a good substitute or not. The Homemade brand is sweet.

You do not add any water and it will set up pretty quickly so, again, turn the heat down before you add the sauce so it doesn't burn or stick.

All you're doing with the sauce is warming it up so as soon as it's hot, spoon it onto the buns.

Very quick and I think that sauce is healthier than, say, Manwich, but I've never really compared so I don't know for sure.

You're welcome for the salad suggestion! It's such a struggle for me to eat more veggies, but luckily I figured out that if I cover them in straight up heat it's bearable. (Maybe it's the numb taste buds...) Congrats on your AMAZING weight loss so far!
