Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Thirty something, weight loss has been a lifelong struggle exacerbated by life as professional (i.e. I spend about 12 hrs per day in my office) with little time for myself and exercise. Now add the fear that I'm teaching my teen daughter bad habits.

I am making changes. Now I wake up at 4:30 or 5:00 a.m. and workout before heading out for the day. If I don't make time for myself, who's going to? My daughter will have the example she deserves and I will have the healthy, fit body ...

My Program:
Working out 6 days per week for at least 60 minutes. I'm doing it at home for now because it's hard to get to the gym on my schedule. Right now Jillian Micheals is my trainer of choice. I also use a stationary bike at home for an average of 30 mins per day.

Update 6/2013- I've hired a
personal trainer to help me with strength training 2x weekly.

As for food, I am counting calories and restricting myself to 1400-1500 per day and trying the low-carb way of eating.

If there's ONE thing a person can take away from knowing me it's that I use sarcasm a lot and if I offer REAL advice it will be worthwhile!

Thanks for the blog comment. I'm trying to be careful with my back, but sometimes you just gotta do what ya gotta do! That's probably why my back is really sore today and wants to cramp up!!

I've been hoping that the activity coupled with the heat and drinking lots of water has caused some water retention. If that's the case my body will flush it out eventually!

Thanks for the blog comment. I know, right?? Just a simple little 600 calorie drink with 96 grams of carbs! How bad could having 3 or 5 or 10 per week be? It's just not fair, I tell ya. :)

Thanks for the blog comments :) You're right, there's times that I want to do what I was doing 2-3 years ago and my mind keeps telling me that I've graduated beyond that. Even though that stuff worked and apparently the diet grad school I'm currently enrolled in isn't doing anything for me. Sometimes the old basics are what's best!

It feels good to make a connection with someone, not something I'm used to feeling!
