On my Journey in Life

I have been on many, many diets through the years and now know that I need to make some life-time changes. At my beginning of my senior years, I find I crave the wrong foods more than ever. My goal is to try to encourage others and with their help...and Jehovah's; I will find the self-control that I need to reach a healthy life style.
I have been married almost 18 years to a wonderful husband that loves me at any size. But; I know that life should be better if I am healthier.

My Goals:
My goals are to lose over 60 lbs in a healthy and non-destructive manner.
No time limit is set since I feel that can cause stress and I am going to take this one week at a time. As I lose weight I plan to get more active physically.

My Program:
eat under 20 grams of fat each day, drink 8 glasses of water a day, drink green tea, walk or use treadmill 3 times a week. Keep track of food in home. Keep a journal on the emotional trip I will be taking during my weight loss.

Personal Information:
I live in Michigan, the land of different seasons. Like some of us say "If you don't like the weather, wait a few days and it will change."
I live by Turkeys, (not people) we own 6 dogs and live in the country. Theocratic Husband is my love.

Hi Mary Kay. It has been a while since I have crossed paths with you...thought I would just send a quick "HELLO" your way. HOpe you are OK. We head to DC tomorrow...taking in one day of another convention tomorrow since we commute (thus need to break up the driving and sitting). Have you been to yours yet? emoticon

Claude you are really amazing. I totally understand how it feels to become anxious over dieting. I have made this journey so many times. I have tried so many diets through the years. This time I went back to a diet that a doctor advised me to try, about 19 years ago. In 1993 -1994 ...I had went on this low fat diet and lost over 100 lbs in 10 months. But; the problem is when one gets older and a woman goes through menopause, losing some muscle mass, etc.. dieting is not so easy. I worked for over 10 years at McDonald's and it helped me to keep some muscles toned with the lifting and such. At 62 years of age I am grateful to have any toned up muscles and I still have a long way to go there. It seems though that I am doing it right this time, and my doctor told me that the way that I am eating now will have to be a lifetime commitment. I believe her. I don't want to swing up and down and up and down anymore. It is sooo unhealthy. So here I am and know it is the right thing to do. So even now I am sorting through my jeans. The largest one I am getting rid of. Today I had spinach with some sliced deli chicken, 1 gram of fat for a small package of the chicken. I also took some fat free greek yogurt and seasoned it up as a sauce. Thank you for the encouragement. This cold is rough.
hugs....Mary (kay) emoticon

Hi Mary,
Thank you so much for your kind comment on my blog. I'm sorry you are not feeling well right now.
It is hard to know how to feel about gaining weight, when it is such an effort to lose. But I know you are right; many things can come into play. Fluid retention is a big one.
I am just going to keep pushing ahead, and I know the results will follow.
