A change has finally happened...

My name is Kara and I'm a 34 yr-old proud wife and mother of 3 beautiful boys. I was average or even underweight during my childhood. I starting putting on extra weight when I was about 12. My name is Kara and I'm a 34 yr-old proud wife and mother of 3 beautiful boys. I was average or even underweight during my childhood. I starting putting on extra weight when I was about 12. I stayed at 180 for years. Then I got to college and made having fun a bigger priority than eating and I lost 50 lbs. I basically just quit eating and walked my behind off (literally! haha). Then I met my wonderful future hubby and he "fattened me up"! LOL! Seriously, all we did was go out to eat and he spoiled me. So, before I knew it, the weight was back plus some. I got to 230 and stayed there for years. In recent years, it has crept up to as much as 250+ but usually is around 240. I need to lose half of myself and that is astonishing to me!!

I am a very impatient, irritable, high-stress kinda person and HATE it! I do have a very sarcastic nature and a great, if childish, sense of humor. My life is very simple. I work, I stay home, I go to church. That's about it...except when the boys are playing some kind of ball. Then it's lots of late evenings spent at practices and games. My hubby and I spend all of our free time with our boys. My family is everything to me!! That's another reason to lose..I want to be here for them for as long as possible!

I am "pre"-diabetic, have arthritis in several joints and have back/hip pain that ranges from not so bad to severe. These probs wouldn't be NEARLY as bad if I slimmed down a bit! Due to my painful joints, I have trouble exercising sometimes. I hope that losing this extra LARD will solve MOST of my health problems!!!

My biggest food challenge is the desire to overeat. Thankfully, I am not a junk-food-aholic. I just love to eat and eat lots of what I like. I am a cook and cook what I like and lots of it. I also eat supper too late. I am actually a picky eater but will get "addicted" to foods and CRAVE them all the time. I never just mindlessly eat. I have to be totally focused on what I'm eating.

I am totally addicted to television. I seriously need to cut back on my tv time cuz I eat while I watch and I also do not get enough sleep cuz I'm up late watching.

I want to find that thinner person inside of me! I want to look and feel good again! I want to be that 130 lb person my husband fell in love with again (even though he truly does love me the way I am and NEVER says anything about my weight). I want to be a good motivator and example for my friends who want to lose also.

I also cringe when I look at my 3 boys and see that one of them is overweight and another is well on his way to becoming overweight!Even my DOG is overweight!! And my hubby has high BP & needs to eat well too. It's time to put an end to this for the WHOLE FAMILY!! I am the one who controls what we eat, how much we have, when we eat, so it's pretty much up to me!!

My Goals:
I just want to feel good. I am tired of living in pain almost every second. I am also tired of being ashamed of the way I look. I want to feel good about myself.

My Program:
I am going to cut portion sizes and start eating supper earlier. I am also going to cut out "white" foods and packaged foods as much as possible. I will buy and cook healthier. I will walk at least 45 mins every day, do the elliptical & the Wii Fit several days a week. I hope to cut out ALL soft drinks, even diet, and learn to drink mostly water. I will cut back my tv time & get more sleep.

Personal Information:
My name is Kara and I am from Mississippi. I teach kindergarten & 1st grades at a small private Christian school. I love my husband with all my heart and we are best friends. My super bestest girl friend is Pam. I have lots of great supportive friends who will def be there when I need them!

Other Information:
I am ADDICTED to TV: Days of Our Lives, The First 48, My Name is Earl, Ugly Betty, Dateline NBC, 48 Hours Mystery, Parole Board, Golden Girls, Andy Griffith, Spongebob Squarepants, Deadliest Catch, American Idol, Dr. G Medical Examiner, Twilight Zone, etc. I love to read Stephen King and true crime, esp. Ann Rule but don't make time to read anymore.

I love all kinds of music except jazz, disco, rap, R&B, funky 70s.

Thanks for the comment on my page and yes i am doing ok right now i am in the process of moving so i am a little off track but im still getting my walking in and will focus on my eating in a couple more days when we get into out new home..congrats on the 50 pd loss..woohoo..u r inspiration for me..keep up the great work!!
