In the home stretch

In August of 2011 I began a journey without a path. I had started this journey many times before...too many times to count. I knew where the ending was but getting there was a puzzle I had yet to figure out.
I'm a stubborn thing. I should have realized this was part of the reason I had failed so many times before. I was always trying to lose weight doing it someone elses way. So thus began the journey to cut out each unhealthy food one at a time. Soda was the first to go and in 4 ...

I'm a stubborn thing. I should have realized this was part of the reason I had failed so many times before. I was always trying to lose weight doing it someone elses way. So thus began the journey to cut out each unhealthy food one at a time. Soda was the first to go and in 4 months I was comfortable with eating almost nothing but whole foods (I still love peanut butter and will never give it up).
Today August 29, 2012 I weigh 134 pounds making my total weight loss 86 pounds. I should add that I haven't been this size since I was 13 years old. I know I should be thrilled and I am but I don't think anyone could have prepared me in how to handle the new body I am living in. You see, when you are overweight most of your adult life it becomes all you know. Although my loss was gradual over a years time this is still very new to me. I hope with time I can become not only more comfortable in my own body but gain the courage to figure out what this sucker can do :)

Update January 2015: Although I have put 20 pounds back on in the 2 years since I have lost the original 95 I realize that this isn't a failure but a reminder to be aware of myself. Let's do this.

Just dropping by to say HI!

You look awesome and I see that you are near your goal. That's wonderful! I am on a team for maintenance, which also caters to those of us who are near our goal and want support as we transition into maintenance. The name is At Goal and Maintaining+Transitioning into Maintenance. It actually makes sense to think about how you are going to handle maintenance ahead of time, so this group has lots of help for that.

Best wishes on reaching your goal!

Thanks for the blog comment! It is incredibly motivating to see someone at the same starting weight as me who has achieved exactly what I've wanted to. You look amazing, but more importantly, you look happy and confidant! :)
