This is my quest to fit into a smaller pair of jeans.

In January of 2007 my husband began his journey to healthy living. As a family we cut out sugar and fat from our diet. In April I began the exercise routine at the gym. Since then my husband and I have BOTH lost 35 pounds. Paul even ran in a half marathon in February '08. He completed the 13.1 miles in 3 hrs.: 2 min.: 15 sec. We are very proud of him.

Since Jan. of 2007 our children have lost weight too. The only thing they are doing besides their sports is cutting as much sugar and fat as possible. We have never told them to loose any weight. Our oldest dropped 10 pounds in about a month.

My Goals:
My gaol is to get to a healthy weight that is maintained by a healthy lifestyle. Between April and December of 2007 I dropped 35 pounds. Now I have the additional 30-35 pounds to go.

My Program:
My husband and I follow the Body for Life exercise program. We alternate cardio with strength training.

Other Information:
I am an Ovarian Cancer Survivor! At the age of 40 I was diagnosed with stage 1 Ovarian Cancer. Controling weight is one way to reduce the risk of additional cancer. PLEASE visit www.scovariancancer.org to read about the symptoms ad signs of OC. 65% of women diagnosed with OC will die from the cancer. ASK your physician for a CA125 blood test AND for a pelvic exam. Know your body and demand these at your yearly OB/GYN visit.

Contact me if you would like to talk more about OC and how to live / deal with it.

What a motivating page. Isn't it great to have a husband who motivates you instead of bringing home cookies from the office?? I too have such a blessing. Congrats on your success so far and for your continued remission!

Welcome to SP! I'm new here myself, a bit over 1 mo, and I must admit that it's an enjoyable place to encourage you to do that which is (sometimes) not very enjoyable! That's great that your family is in this with you. Here's to losing that weight in a healthy way!
I'm a 1 yr 4 mos survivor of stage 3 colon cancer. The Lord has been gracious to me and has answered the prayers of many(very many!)who prayed for me.
Hoping to hear more from you!

Congrats on your Stage 1 diagnosis!!! That is unusual and highly wonderful!!

Body for Life is a great program. I saw someone from Colorado that weighed as much as me and now is a body builder!!

Great that your whole family is getting involved. That makes it much easier.

Welcome! I am happy that you found SparkPeople. I think it is so cool that all of this information is free!

Good luck on the BL contest. I will see you around at the gym!

I like your user name -- when I first read it, I saw Sinking Ship ... shrinking hips is cute though.
