Shorts By Summer

I haven't worn shorts or a sun dress in summer for over 7 years because of my extra weight. This year I will lose my 'baby weight' / 'divorce weight' and keep it off. My goal is to be fit for shorts by my next birthday.

I love the gym and being fit but I struggle to fit exercise into my busy single-parent life. Mother of 2 pre-teens (eek!). I am recovering workaholic. Work has been my best excuse for not going to the gym. Work-related stress is also the reason for my gaining ...

My family is 2000-km away and I haven't made friends here yet, so it's just me, the kids and their activities...and my work.

I've been vegetarian for about 22 years, I am an aspiring vegan. I am raising my children to be vegetarians/vegans. We are all fussy eaters, which makes meal times challenging!

My Goals:
Lose 85-lbs by Dec 31, 2014

Lower bodyfat to 22%

Run 10k without throwing up

Buy and wear a bikini

Be a better mother

Become date-able

Use all my 'personal days' at work, DON'T carry any over and DON'T do any work on those days

My Program:
Stay under 1600 calories

Daily activity: cardio and strength training, yoga/pilates, xBox kinect

Eating clean, natural and organic.

If you can't pronounce it, or don't know exactly what an ingredient is...you probably shouldn't be eating it.

Stick to the family meal plan

Make all my work lunches on Sunday night, and prep the weekly vegetables (cut up in containers in fridge)

Make an appointment with a nutritionist, a personal trainer and a massage therapist

I've fallen off the wagon too many times to count

I look after everyone but myself

8 years ago, between my 1st and 2nd child I lost over 60-lbs doing Body For Life (wt. 115-lbs), and I miss that body so much. But I can do it again and I must.

Thank you for the comment on my blog. You definitely have the right attitude about what we are all doing. I love the idea of setting an example and firmly believe that is the only way we can really affect change. I absolutely adore the "cake" you made for your co-worker. It is a beautiful idea and I bet you had fun making it. I think I will make something like that on a much smaller scale for dessert tonight. Thanks for the idea and the comment!
