*** July 2011 ***
Completed my first triathlon July 17, 2011! It was a very windy day at the lake, and I panicked in the waves and kind of forgot how to swim. However, I did complete the 750 meter swim (just very slowly), the 20K bike, and the 5K run. I was the "last winner" - and want to get better for next year!
July 24, 2011 - my 7 year old daughter Caroline completed her first triathlon. 50meter swim, 4K bike, 1K run - she had me do the bike and run with her. My 10 year daughter decided she did want to do it a bit too late to register - next year!

I'm used to people commenting on the weight loss - but I had my first comment the other day congratulating me for *keeping* the weight off.
A new phase!
Still haven't done the triathlon, but last year I learned to run, and ran a couple of 10Ks. Over the winter I let the running lapse, so I want to get back into running and do a couple of races this summer.
Been doing a lot of bicycling with kids, though, so that's fun.
I'm about 5 pounds over my lowest weight, but other than that, doing pretty well!
*** January 2009 ***
I've been in maintenance mode since October. I was doing really well at that until Christmas, when I put on 5 pounds. Oh well - I'm addressing that now. I had been looking around for something to *do*, to keep me interested now that the big thrill of weight loss is gone and I'm a normal size - and I found something!
I'm going to do a triathlon! I'm aiming for a sprint triathlon in July, which involves swimming 400 meters, biking 20k, and running 5k.
I have never been a sporty type of person, so this is a stretch for me. I have 6 months to prepare, so first I'm learning how to run and how to swim freestyle. Once the snow has cleared, I'll be learning how to ride fast on a bicycle.
There are worse mid-life crises to have, I guess... ;)
*** October 2008 ***
One year from my *real* SP start date - and have reached original goal. In total, I've lost 80.5 pounds on SparkPeople, in 369 days (didn't think to track at 365 days).
I'm thinking of losing a bit more weight - or perhaps it's more toning I'm wanting to do. But wow - I'm a "normal" BMI now, and feel really good about it.
I'm Sarah, I'm 5'10", I have two children, and I want to lose weight and live healthier to be a good role model for them. I'm turning 40 July 4th 2008, and I want to be FIT and 40, not FAT and 40!
I'm tracking my food with different software, but I track that daily as well as my exercise. I joined SparkPeople back in Feb 2007, but I really only started using it end of September 2007.
SparkPeople works WHEN you use it! And you know that saying, nothing tastes as good as thin feels? Always thought it was absolute nonsense, but it's feeling a lot more true now.

Thinner than I've been for at least 20 years...
Started Oct 2 at 252.3 pounds
10% loss - beginning of January 2008
15% loss - Feb 14, 2008
20% loss - estimated end of March (March 19th!)
25% loss - estimated end of April (May 10th and May 14th)
30% loss - estimated mid June
199 pounds - estimated end of March (March 31st!)
189 pounds - estimated end of April (May 2, May 10, and May 14 - been bopping around like anything)
179 pounds - estimated beginning of June (argh! How about second week of July?) yes!
Goal of 173 pounds (just inside BMI) - (end of xJunex) beginning of October
Original goal: Start doing, not just planning
Mid point goal: Don't slack off, just because I'm losing weight - now is the time to ramp it up!
Also want to doing more strength training on a regular basis.
Want to get to 173 (normal BMI) by July 4, 2008 - got to the normal BMI beginning of October.
Tone and lose last deposits of fat, by doing a triathlon!
August 2011 goal:
Tone and lose last deposits of fat - would like to go down to about 160-165 pounds and see what that's like.
My summary is: "eat less (but better), move more, and KEEP ON DOING IT!"
Want to exercise at least 20 minutes a day, and pay attention to what I eat.
Track it all.
