Learning To Take Care of Myself
There is more to my weight than what shows on my body and the scale. It's a combination of many celebrations, dreams achieved or delayed or lost, kind words and mean words from others and myself; doubts, love, good experiences and bad. Oh and yo-yo dieting. Years and years of it since I started gaining weight in college in the late 80s. Now I have all of this extra weight and it's weighing me down. I can't walk or run like I want. I can't do a lot of things or wear a lot of things I'd like. So I'm on the journey to free myself and continue enjoying life without being bound by pounds and ounces that my body should not carry. One challenge is to avoid changing "diets" every week or whenever I see a new one. I need to find what works for my body and stick to it. I want to lose weight so I can look better to myself when I see myself in a mirror or my reflection in a window, feel better overall, lower my blood pressure, cholesterol, waist measurement and BMI numbers, enjoy shopping for clothes again, decrease pain, and increase my energy and the pep in my step. I want to feel as younger instead of older than I am.

Other Information:
With God all things are possible. That's my view in life even though I don't always act like it. That's a goal too - live it. "Fear defeats more people than any other one thing in the world." – Ralph Waldo Emerson "Many things which cannot be overcome when they are together yield themselves up when taken little by little." – Plutarch Sounds like that quote applies to the weight I want to release. "You cannot afford to settle for any situation that dampens your spirit. When you discover you have 'detoured,' you must do whatever it takes to return to the path of joy. Putting your foot down is a prerequisite to stepping ahead." - Alan Cohen
