After seven years in western Oregon, I began to grow moss instead of hair.

Idealist hiding behind snarky humor and a five course dinner

Before I turned 40 and suddenly had a major life upheaval, including a transcontinental move, I was never so heavy. Now I find it difficult to remove the last fifteen of 30 pounds I gained. Part of the issue is that I LOVE to cook and have gourmet tastes, so I can undo my diet in an extravagant weekend.

Part of the issue is that I LOVE to cook and have gourmet tastes, so I can undo my diet in an extravagant weekend.

I am also a manager of a small home health and hospice care company in Western Oregon. This is not a desk job, but an active one, visiting clients in their homes, hospitals and nursing facilities. Sometimes I perform caregiving tasks for clients and people in my own family. Like many other perpetual caregivers, I love and love, give and give. I have big ideas, sometimes bigger than humanly possible.... and can't always do enough, help enough, be perfect enough. Sometimes there is no one to talk to... so I eat.

I am also finally serious about officially earning a degree in THIS FIELD (LOL!) after too many years puttering around taking other health-related college courses. This adds the problem of spending 20 hours a week or more on my rear studying.

My official program is weight training, running and hiking. I have a wicked sense of humor. I hope that attempting to hide laughter is a good core exercise. All the convulsions my belly endures! However, I can't find it on my fitness tracker.

I eat REAL FOOD. No gimmicks, no boxed deliveries, no pills, no liquid diets. After all, “The only time to eat diet food is while you’re waiting for the steak to cook.”–Julia Child

I am here on Sparkpeople for friendship, laughs and good, motivating stories.

Love your new picture with the moss and leaves in your hair. The moderate rain forests in Oregon are something I miss and the smell of Douglas Fir trees.

Did they have a dream quilt in the yurt? I had a dream quilt once and it was stunning. I would love to live in a yurt.

Take care friend. Thank you for answering my blog.

My dear friend, I've thought of you many times lately and specifically yesterday. I just saw your name on the feed and determined to send off a "hello" note. What do you think happened? I got the notice that you liked my status about the volunteer work. It was actually the volunteer work that brought you to mind yesterday. I'll send an SPmail about it within the next few days...can't commit right now.

Thanks for dropping by, my mom is doing great at 90, and is pretty feisty. Actually, I think feistiness is the secret to longevity some days, lol. ;-)
