Shared Food & Fitness Trackers
Hi, thanks for visiting my page!
Mainly, winning in races against my kids until they are at least in Jr. High. :) I was an athlete until I had kids, and I would like to get back to that level of fitness.
I have knee issues and am on track to get those fixed. After that's done, I would like to start running again (maybe a 5k this summer!) and focus on weight training.
I do yoga twice a week with a guy who also teaches kickboxing - great motivation! I have a dog and we walk a mile or so daily, then hike on the weekends. The SparkPeople Boot Camp video is fun and accomodating. I am looking forward to summer to start mountain biking again. We have a great rec center, and I meet with a personal trainer as well as doing group exercise. I like to mix it up!
As far as food goes, I like to keep certain healthy items in the fridge at all times: a big container of fruit salad, sauteed vegetables and grilled meat. If I nibble on this all day and keep from getting hungry, I tend to make better choices. I also keep my water bottle with me all the time.
My weight has yo-yo'd since I was 10, with each upswing a little higher than the last. I am 5'7" and was 160 lbs 3 years ago and now weigh 210. My impetus for losing weight is size 20 jeans - a first for me. I ordered a pair on Ebay and it really lit a fire for me that I needed to do something immediately. I never even tried them on, but instead got to work on getting healthy again.
I am from and currently live in West Virginia. I have also lived in Oregon, Mississippi, and Virginia. I am in the MBA program at WVU and plan on completing my PhD, focusing in entrepreneurship. I work in the tax department and do corporate level projects. I'm also interested in electronic and progressive music, geography, art, and horticulture. I am married to a sculpture professor and have two boys, ages 7 & 8.
Because your own strength is unequal to the task, do not assume that it is beyond the powers of man; but if anything is within the powers and province of man, believe that it is within your own compass also.

I loved your "10 Things About Me" in the Finding the Balance team. I'm also a huge fan of ethnic food--Thai food and tropical fruits are my favorites!

I added you as a friend because in your 'Yoga as a Way of Life' into, you said that if people had anything in common with you....
I own a whitewater rafting company! I love my job, although I don't get on the river as much as I used to when I was a guide...I was also a vegetarian, for 15 years, and I am moving that way too...and yes, yoga has been part of my life for 10 years or so, and though I would love to practice more frequently, I only go to class once a week. Usually Anusara.
Anyway...I think we have a lot in common! Take care, and I hope you enjoyed the Lorax...saw it Sat. with the kids, and loved it!
