After nearly 10 years in Rawlins, we have relocated to Sheridan this past week. Looking for workout buddies in this area. Right now my 'program' is unpacking! Looking forward to meeting fellow Sparkers from Sheridan and Buffalo areas!
Sparking: It's about progress, not perfection:
I intend to live out this saying that I read in one of the Spark email messages received this week: "It's about progress, not perfection."
If I can be intentional about one thing -- for a week, for a day, even for the next few minutes, if need be -- then I will make progress.
And if I can make this day better than the last day in some way, no matter how small it may seem, then I will be able to say that was a day well-lived. If I fall down, then I start fresh the next day, knowing I am making progress even if I am not living perfectly. All of these concepts can be applied to a day, an hour, a minute, a month!
Sparking is about progress, not perfection! Spark on!
He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.
Count on God in everything you do, in every circumstance you’re in, in every need you face, in every decision you make. Never think about anything apart from Him.
My goal is to take “I can’t” out of my vocabulary and replace it with “God can”!
Besetting sins are those that we slide into when we just "be setting" there. --- Russell Kelfer
Light obeyed increases the light. -- Adrian Rogers
Your sigh is able to move the heart of Jehovah. Your whisper can incline His ear to you. Your prayer can stay His hand, and your faith can move His arm. Do not think that God sits on high taking no account of you. -Charles Spurgeon
"For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.” 2 Chronicles 16:9 NASB
What is the one great, overarching, overriding lesson that God is trying to teach you and me through the scriptural account and the daily events in our lives? Boiled down into its most succinct form, the lesson could be stated in just two words: Trust Me.
-D. James Kennedy
I have come to realize that the mercy that is truly to be desired is the mercy that I’ve already received—salvation by faith alone, through Christ alone, by grace alone, revealed by God through scripture alone, to the glory of God alone! Whatever happens in my life is only there through God’s sovereign power, for His glory and part of His good plan for ultimate good.
A man who wants something will find a way; a man who doesn’t will find an excuse.
----- Stephan Dolley Jr.
The Lord will preserve you. He won’t leave you. He is your stronghold and deliverer. Salvation is from Him. May we hope in Him alone.
Every morning you are handed 24 golden hours. They are one of the few things in this world that you get free of charge. If you had all the money in the world, you couldn't buy an extra hour. What will you do with this priceless treasure?
Nothing is easier than saying words. Nothing is harder than living them, day after day. What you promise today must be renewed and redecided tomorrow and each day that stretches out before you.
Over the holidays, I realized that I been trying to lose weight and get in shape in my own strength. So far as exercise, this isn't so hard for me because I enjoy walking and I enjoy how much better I feel mentally after I exercise. But................when it comes to what goes in my mouth, I must admit that I cannot control this in my own strength.
The change I am making in '09 is that the Lord of Glory will control what goes in my mouth and when. This is why I know that I will be able to "shine in '09." And all of the glory will be God's.
My goal is to eat healthy and to continue getting back into good shape - by building up muscle and endurance. My goal is to start lifting weights and riding my bike, in addition to my walking & core exercise routine.
I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, vegetable and herb gardening, cooking and preserving food. When I had more free time, I enjoyed sewing ... but at this point in my life, free time seems to be no more than a distant memory! :o)
