My Journey

I'm a classic yo-yo dieter. I've been up and down the scales since I was 14 years old; starting at size 5 and slowly increasing to a 32 over the years. I am a professional dieter and know all about losing weight; it's KEEPING IT OFF that I can't seem to master! After five years of research and prayer, I made the decision to have Vertical Sleeve surgery.

My surgery date was April 9, 2009 and as of August 6, 2011, I have lost 190 pounds! I'm happy to say I'm still ...

My health was deteriorating so I was in pretty bad shape by the time I had surgery. I'm thrilled to report I am out of the wheelchair, off all medication, riding horses and bicycles and having a great life, in general. WLS is a radical step, not to be taken lightly, but sometimes radical measures are required. I do not regret the decision!

Hello! I joined the Gastric Sleevers team several weeks ago...I'm being evaluated for WLS. Tied up in red tape/jumping through the hoops, etc:) I just had to leave a comment to tell you what an inspiration you have been to me. I'm 60 years old this year, and have been unsuccessful at losing &/or maintaining. I have done my research and I am committed in my decision (Lord willing!) I'm shooting for 50-60 gms of Protein/day, and have lowered my carb intake(45-60 gms/day) & calories(1000-1200/day) I'm not eating much fruit or milk, and I am hungry between meals. How many carbs do you eat, if I may ask? I have questions, and I would really appreciate your input. Thanks for being my touch-stone!
Sandy PS- I'm going to request your friendship if that's OK.

You are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!

190 pounds in 17 months is incredible. I'm a Texan so you know I don't blow smoke! What I say, I truly mean!!!

I noted your age and no doubt slow metabolism. At 55 and after years and years of dieting, l am losing slowly but steadily.

Converting from the lapband to sleeve is the best health decision I've ever made.

I look forward to your comments and insight as I go forward with my own weight loss story!!!
