My Journey

I'm a classic yo-yo dieter. I've been up and down the scales since I was 14 years old; starting at size 5 and slowly increasing to a 32 over the years. I am a professional dieter and know all about losing weight; it's KEEPING IT OFF that I can't seem to master! After five years of research and prayer, I made the decision to have Vertical Sleeve surgery.

My surgery date was April 9, 2009 and as of August 6, 2011, I have lost 190 pounds! Here it is 2015 and I'm happy to say I'm ...

My health was deteriorating so I was in pretty bad shape by the time I had surgery. I'm thrilled to report I am out of the wheelchair, off all medication, riding horses and bicycles and having a great life, in general. WLS is a radical step, not to be taken lightly, but sometimes radical measures are required. I do not regret the decision!

I found your page on one of the Spark People posts I got and had to come and read a bit about your story! I see you are an RV'er! My husband and I are, too, and we love it. We aren't full timing as we have a small house on acreage here in Texas but we go at least once a month and just returned from spending a month in Colorado.

I think we were at that park that you were in at Kerrville, it surely looks familiar! We didn't stay there but drove in and checked it out, it was so beautiful being backed right up to the river like you were! We stayed in the Kerrivlle-Schreiner Park with some friends of ours, and it was pretty too, but we had to cross the road (a main road) to get to the water. Congratulations on your lifestyle change! What you did is a huge accomplishment! emoticon
