Using a 100 mile diet to loose 100 pounds

My name is Shel. I live on Vancouver Island with my wonderful (and very fit) husband. I am working on a PhD; research and writing keeps me in a chair in front of the computer for most of the day. After watching my mom nearly die of a heart attack this year, I decided that I needed to make some big changes so here I am. While my weight goal is to loose 100 pounds, my larger goals are to simply get in shape, be fit and maintain a healthier lifestyle.

After watching my mom nearly die of a heart attack this year, I decided that I needed to make some big changes so here I am. While my weight goal is to loose 100 pounds, my larger goals are to simply get in shape, be fit and maintain a healthier lifestyle.

More selfishly, I want to look and feel great. I want to be able to walk into a "regular" sized clothing store with confidence, knowing that I can actually shop there. Most of all, I want to be fit and healthy so my husband and I can pursue our dream of having a baby.

I am very interested in the local food movement and try including as much local and organic food in my household diet and I reasonably can. I believe that it's much easier to include lots of fruits and vegetables in our diet when they are in season because they taste so great! As my page title says, I'm hoping to use the 100 mile diet to loose 100 pounds.

Hi Shel! Just checking in with you today. In the spirit of honesty, I'll admit that I lost some focus this week, with holiday parties in abundance at work. But I'm refocused and have set some real goals. How are you doing?

Thank you for your comment! I also am into the local food movement and have been shopping at our local health foods store. They carry mostly locally grown produce. Our farmers markets around here have kind of faded, but summertime is a great time for local produce. I wish you luck on your journey!
