Hi! My name's Shel, I'm a 39 year old type 1 diabetic. I've had issues with my sugar levels for a while now. I'll be fine for weeks and then all of a sudden it's like all hell breaks loose and things are haywire for a couple weeks. So my doctor started me on a Continuous Glucose Monitor which has now become the bane of my existence. When it's working it's amazing. More likely than not though the darn thing is on the fritz and causing me stress.

I've got 2 Basset Hounds who I adore and they are truly my! Part of my exercise plan is walking with them every night but I know I need more than this to keep my body in decent shape. I just can't get motivated for that right now. Trying to keep myself healthy is about all I've got time for right now.

My Goals:
I'm still trying to lose some weight, but more importantly to just become healthier and lower my blood sugar levels and get my diabetes under control.

My Program:
I'm using my treadmill 3 times a week....trying to run a little more but usually do a lot of walking, but any movement is better than nothing.

I'm also doing strength training 2-3 times a week.

Working on stretching too!

Personal Information:
I love hiking, camping and spending time with friends and family.

I have been a Type 1 Diabetic for over 20 years and have no complications now but I worry that this could change.

I work for a construction company in the Greater Chicago area but am originally from Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

Other Information:
It's just another day in Paradise.
