Being healthier, more active has become a fire within me. Over the last ten years I’ve had back surgery, flirted with high blood pressure, suffered excruciating headaches and descended into depression so deep, so intoxicating , I feared I would never come to surface. In spite of my family history which includes obesity, diabetes, mental illness and the like, I never believed I could be afflicted by anything of that magnitude. Ah! Youth!
But something happened. I took baby steps and gained and somehow adopted a renewed sense of self. Baby steps. All I could do was baby steps. Lord knows the weight I’d steadily accumulated didn’t happen in a day and it took years to gain some ground.
I am an active, involved woman --very busy with job, family, and various outside interests. I don’t want to leave a legacy to my sons by making poor choices by not caring for myself adequately.
I want to continue getting around on my own accord. I want to continue to live my live to the fullest!
And I want to be sexier! I want to feel good in my skin at 54-years-old, I am!

1. Remain active.
2. Stay in the present. (Very had for a woman who suffers depression!)
3. Listen to the God-Spirit inside me.
4. Enjoy resting. It's good for me!
-- 4 -5 days of physical activity.
-- Consume less sugar and bread, eat more fibrous foods .. beans, fruit, veggies.
-- Water, water, water.
-- Coffee is good so long as it's not eight cups a day!
-- Become knowledgeable about my personal wellness and stress management.
-- Take time to rest and renew.
54 years old.

Mom of Kovu, the Wonder Dog (My shelter pup is 12-years-old now and like me, has some arthritis to contend with.)
