Currently: I'm officially 5 1/2 months postpartum and instead of the scale going down, my weight has been quietly creeping up to my dismay. So it's back to the drawing board. I know the key to losing weight is tracking my food but I had been eating as I wanted without having any idea of how much. Clearly that is not working for me. I am slowly getting my energy back but time is always a challenge. However I would be satisfied to simply see any weight loss, no matter how slowly.

I know the key to losing weight is tracking my food but I had been eating as I wanted without having any idea of how much. Clearly that is not working for me. I am slowly getting my energy back but time is always a challenge. However I would be satisfied to simply see any weight loss, no matter how slowly.

Background: Years before I joined sparkpeople, I was not at such a healthy weight. Thirty pounds heavier, I looked unhealthy and just felt terrible physically. Feel free to check out the before pictures. Together with my family, we followed the Weight Watcher Point system at home and I lost 20 pounds over the course of 9 months. In January 2007, I felt motivated enough to try again and officially joined Weight Watchers and was able to lose another 10 pounds. The key to weight loss and good physical fitness is watching those calories and exercising. I am a big fan of Weight Watchers and sparkpeople for helping to teach me how to create healthy eating and exercising habits.

My Goals:
I want to get back to (and stay at) a healthy weight...a weight that I know from the past is healthy for my body (140 or under)...

New Goal: aim for 850 exercise minutes a month, eat at least one serving of veg a day, average a 10 minute mile.

Long term goal: run a 1/2 marathon in 2011

Racing stats:
6-23-11 5k 37:00
9-18-10 5K 30:42
7-17-10 5 mile 58:22
6-6-10 5k 32:13
4-24-10 5K 32:28 mins
10-18-09 5K 30:48 mins
9-12-09 5K 29:44 mins Woo hoo!
8-13-09 5K 31:22 mins
6-26-09 5.2 mile 54 mins
5-21-09 5K 33:47 mins
5-2-09 5K 33:35 mins
4-25-09 5K 37:24 mins

My Program:
Runing 6 miles 3-4 times a week outside (at least until it snows.)
In the winter I like to hit the gym for spin or strength training classes. (I've learned my lesson with step classes!)

Eating healthy comes pretty easily to me...except when I hear the ice cream calling! I love to eat fruits but veggies are much harder. Long term changes have helped me acclimate my body to smaller meals, more often. I stick to my usual healthy options on a regular basis with some extras thrown in every once in a while.

Personal Information:
I'm 35, married to my wonderful husband Jon. We welcomed our first child, Desmond, July of 2012. I live/work/play in New Hampshire.

Other Information:
I totally borrowed these quotes because they both amuse me and inspire me!

"If you went running when you first started thinking about it, you'd be back by now."

"Others aren't staring at you. They're thinking how they should be running, too."

"It's easier to sleep than run. That's why sleeping isn't an Olympic sport."

"Running is a big question mark that's there each and every day. It asks you, 'Are you going to be a wimp, or are you going to be strong today?'" --Peter Maher, two-time Olympic marathoner from Canada

Thanks for the blog/pic comments! There's nothing worse than a bad hike. We hiked at this one state park to a house that was "hidden" was back in there, it was our first hike since I'd lost about 100 lbs. When we got to the house after a heck of a climb, we were greeted with cars, a remodeled house and nice road that we could've driven on!! ARG!!!!
