Working through my shadows and trying to stay in the light. I'm a lifelong yo-yo dieter and am now working to solve my blood sugar issues with lifestyle changes. It's about time! I'm a mom of two wonderful grown kids, and I love reading and writing and working together toward shared goals. SparkPeople is a real find for me!

Fitness Minutes: 1,453

My Goals:
My goal is less about a number and more about feeling healthy and fit. But I would love to look good in jeans again!

I want to feel good and not overwhelmed by depression. Between the foods I'm now eating and the workouts, I'm doing great with that.

I want to be around and healthy for my loved ones and I want (when the time comes) to be an active grandma.



My Program:
1. Eat whole fresh foods that are not overly processed and keep the carbs on the low end of my range.

2. Drink my water! (I also drink herbal tea, almond milk and the occasional cup of coffee). Been off diet soda for almost six months now!

3. Cardio exercise at least five days a week, strength training three-four times a week.

4. Meditate at least ten minutes daily.

5. Come to SparkPeople daily for inspiration and motivation.

I'm originally from New Jersey but now live in the mountains of western North Carolina.


Other Information:
I'm a semi-retired editor and former English teacher. I love reading and writing and spending time with my loved ones. I'm a big fan of all music, but especially jazz. I write short stories and poetry. I'm more than a little word obsessed.
