I am a happily married mom just trying to stay motivated and reach my goal of first running a 5k and then moving on to a 10k. My boys and I love to go camping, riding atv's, snowboarding and vegging out in front of the tv...we are reality tv junkies!!!

My Goals:

1) Do a 5k before Hunter goes back to school. Once I have done that... ****ok, this was so unrealistic! When I started sparkpeople I thought you could just run and shave off a minute of your time every other day! I am wiser now and know that it takes time to build up to running any kind of race. This is a challenge for me since I am a "all or nothing" gal :) So with that being said...I am updating goal numero uno...
1.) Run a 5k by the end of October, once I have done that...

2) Do a 10k...and then a half marathon...yes, I said half marathon, no more being a sissy lala! Im gonna have buns and legs of steel...and I wont even start on the kick ass abs Im gonna have!!

3) Drink 8 glasses of water a day...
(looks like Im gonna be buying some stock in Brita filters)

4) Stick with my plan even on the weekends but alow myself a day to indulge :)...

5) Strength train to firm up my entire body starting at three days a week and

Personal Information:
I moved to Salem, OR almost two years ago from Southern Or. It has been a challenge to meet new people since I work from home!! I have been married for 12 years and have a 10 yr old son. Oh, and how could I forget our "babies"? We have two Yorkies, Mocha and Rowdey...completely spoiled rotten, and soooo cute!!

Other Information:
We all love to read and often will spend an entire Sunday all sprawled out on the couch with good books. We watch reality tv...Survivor, So You Think You Can Dance, Big Brother, Mole, Hell's Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares...you name it, Im sure we watch it! We have recently started geocaching...what a great family "sport"! It is truely an adventure each time we go out! (www.geocaching.com)
Lets see...what else? We snowboard in the winter, and during the summer we take our quads to the Dunes.
That pretty much sums up my family!!

I have been running every day after work! I am not good yet, but I am working hard! I ran 2 miles straight for the first time last night, which was pretty exciting at 5mph. I am still working on that 'beginner"program I told you about. Have you changed your clinic program?

HEY!!

So, I am trying to get ready for the pear-o! I found this program, walk fast(4 mph 4 minutes to warm up, go 5mph for for 4 minutes, go 6 mph for 8 minutes, go back to 5mph for 4 minutes, walk fast 4mph for 5 minutes. Total 26 minutes. I looked at that and thought..........holy moly, that is going to be hard! Then, I see the dreaded words at the top that say "for beginners"..........SERIOUSLY! What the heck?? This was on sparkpages too! Not very encouraging. I am hoping that one day I will look back at this schedule and actually believe it is meant for beginners!! I am really worried that you and Kat are both going to do the 10K, and I am going to do the 5K, and that you both still might beat me to the finish line!! Don't feel sorry for me, I am totally motivated! emoticon

Hey!!

Congratulations on signing up for your first 5K!! You are a rockstar!! That is really cool that Mike is doing it too! I have gotten back into the swing of things this week. I have now ridden my stationary bike a total of 2000 miles, yahoo! I have been biking and walking fast at a 10 incline to try to extend my stride........still having a lot of cramping problems, but hoping that when my lungs get more used to belly breathing, that it will be a bit more tolerable. !

I have hit the road on my road bike and LOVE it! Oh my gosh Shannon, it is really fun. Chris got a road bike as well, so we plan for long rides on Sunday's. I am trying to think of how I can show real estate on my bike! hahaha. At first, I got these spandexy like shorts that have the gel on the inside to protect you for pain from the seat..............I had to get baggy shorts with a gel insert to wear on top of my spandexy gel shorts so I could ride long distances! HAHAHA! Talk about painful!! I am thinking of joining a local club and going on bike rides with them. I want to get good at it first though, so I don't embarrass myself. I still can't really let go of the handles to signal when I turn, so I have been just leaving it to chance and hoping for the best. HA! (not kidding). I have really terrible depth perception.....this could prove pretty interesting.

I can't seem to drop any weight, but I have also been eating and drinking and being merry! ha.

Anyway, I am soooo proud of you for signing up for your first 5K! I can't wait to see photo's and hear how it went.

We are signed up for a Bike Ride on the 20th of Sept to raise money to extend the bike paths from Central Point to Grants Pass.....that would make a bike path all the way from Grants Pass to Ashland!! Kat is doing it too!

Kat is doing her 2nd Triathlon in Lincoln City tomorrow. She has signed up for 2 others already, she is just really excited about it..........I think she is crazy.

Sorry for rambling. I am really interested to hear about your clinic's homework..........and really, what a clinic is?

HEY!! I was thinking about you while eating Keebler fudge striped cookies last night. I went through this really weird cookie phaze this weekend. Yikes!

I have been riding my stationary bike mostly and strength training. Running is so hard!! WAAAAA(crying). It hurts and it sucks. I am still bound and determined to run the darn Pear-oh with you though. My saving grace, is that it is not easy for you either, but you are still doing it!! I plan to get back on the treadmill this week and bust a move(ya, I said bust a move!!) haha.

Chris and Kat are getting closer to the Sutherland Triathlon. It is at the end of the month. Crazy wacko's. Kat has been having some trouble with getting used to the cold water and wearing a wetsuit.

The coffee biz is going pretty well. We are having the ribbon cutting with the chamber on the 27th and our official grand opening on the following Friday and Saturday. It is pretty exciting. Cuppy, our mascot is out on the street in Broken Arrow waving at people for the first time today. We have a 20 foot cup of coffee in route to blow up during the grand opening. It reminds me of that big puffy white marshmellowy guy on Ghost Busters. Huge!! bigger than the surrounding businesses.

I keep wondering when you are going to Bend to see if you are interested in the store??

Anywayssssss. I have been slacking. Even riding my bike a little slower. I promised myself I would get back on track this week, so I have been tevo'ing a lot of TV to keep my mind occupied while running.

Have you been watching the olypics? The bodies those runner's have! I want that! They make it look so easy.

Hey!

How have you been doing on your running? I have been slacking a bit on the running, but have been adding 10 incline walking to my biking to help me lengthen my stride(I run like I have legs the length of a 10 year old). I am going to continue walking at a 3 pace at a 10 inclide this week, and doing my 15 miles on the bike. All along, I am practicing breathing. I suck at running Shannon. It feels really crappy to be so bad, but it will feel so good to get it right! Right??
