I have been keeping my weight loss/healthy living through a secret from a lot of people, but I let the cat out of the bag today and am thrilled I did.

I started on because I had woken at 3 am on Sunday, March 7, 2010, with a terrible case of acid reflux and I started looking on the web for what I should do to take care of it and I found that I needed to lose weight. At first I thought that I would create a webpage for myself to track what I ate and how much exercise I was doing, but then I had an actually smart idea -- I bet someone else has done this. So I started searching. I didn't find Sparkpeople that day, but I did find SparkRecipes and a week later found Sparkpeople.

In 4 months I have lost 45 pounds (at the rate of 1 to 2 pounds a week) and my fitness, energy and motivation are through the ceiling! This was all done by doing regular, consistent, light exercise and keeping track of what I'm eating.

I haven't had a bout of acid reflux for over 3 months and am healthier than I have been for probably my whole life.

I'm still working at losing another 20 lbs. to bring myself to the center of the healthy weight range for my height.

As points out, this isn't a diet, but a lifestyle change.

My Goals:
My first goal is to get to 180 lbs. (done July 11, 2010).

My second goal is to get to and maintain at 160 lbs., right in the middle of healthy for my BMI.

My third goal is to be able to jog at least 5K by the end of August 2010.

My Program:
I've been doing about 420 minutes of cardio a week, crunches and pushups.

I've been keeping my intake to between 1500 and 1800 calories a day (some days it's hard to eat up to 1500, but nut butters are great at the end of the day if I haven't made it).

    I know that a thank you for a thank you eventually becomes sort of redundant, but I had to comment on your Appalachian Trail hike - how gorgeous that must be!!! My Young Son told me about an infamous hike on Kauai that has become a new goal for me - I think it is 8 miles and goes up to the beautiful waterfalls - I want to be able to enjoy that with the whole family while we're there! Your weight loss and energy gain are quite inspirational!! So, here's to hiking in beautiful places!! And thank you for the SparkGoodie!!

    Thanks for the comments the other day - you are so right. Why not just stop and smell the roses of the weight loss success to date? I can't remember the last time I lost 30lbs - and I obviously didn't keep it off! I have found my second wind and am back on track and going to follow your advice to find some different activities to try - variety *is* the spice of life! Thanks!
