January 2010 and I am trying this again!

I started spark in January of 2007 and I was addicted! I wanted to lose 50 lbs in preparation for starting a family. I faithfully logged on every day to enter my food and exercise. I was working out almost every day and it was fun. I have never, ever been a runner but I completed the Couch to 5k program and even tried a 5k race. Unfortunately I did horribly (all of my training was on the treadmill which didn't translate well on the pavement). It sent my psyche in a tailspin. Then the summer was here and I just didn't feel like putting the effort in. I gave up for some reason. And no matter how much I tried, I couldn't get it back. I kept saying "next week I'll start again". And it would never happen. And I gained back almost all 20 pounds that I lost.

I guess you could say that I lost my "Spark".

Then, in November of 2007 I got pregnant. Ha! Perfect excuse to eat all I wanted!

Now I'm paying for it. I'm about 20 lbs heavier than before my pregnancy. I have always been chunky and on a short 5' frame, it is extremely noticable. I've really never been happy about it but now I'm even more unhappy.

I have a wonderful little boy who is now almost 18 months old, so this belly was worth it. But I want to feel good about myself again. It's just even more difficult to get the exercise in now, and I also don't have the stamina I had just three years ago. This is definitely going to be an uphill battle, but I plan to conquer it!

Hopefully I'll meet my goals before I get pregnant again :-)

My Goals:
I would ultimately love to get down to a size 12 by the end of the year. There is a chance I could get pregnant again, so this may be tough!

My Program:
Currently I am starting my workouts with the Wii game sysem. I use My Fitness Coach and The Biggest Loser. I am also using the treadmill twice a week and trying to get some weights into the mix.

Here is my old program, which worked well. I'm keeping it here in case I ever want to ry it out again.

Typical program:
Sunday: Day of rest OR yoga, pilates, or hiking

Monday: lower body & abs strength train / Run 2.5 miles

Tuesday: upper body body & abs strength train / 30-45 min kickboxing or aerobics

Wednesday: Run 2.5 miles/ 10 minutes kickboxing core

Thursday: upper body & abs strength train / 30-45 min kickboxing or aerobics

Friday: lower body & abs strength train / Run 2.5 miles

Saturday: 45 minutes of yoga, pilates or flexibility
