Thank you for the really nice comment on my page!! Total I've lost 90 lbs. I lost the first 6 pounds after I had my gall bladder surgery at the end of February of 2007! I was so frustrated because my weight was always up and down which my doctor said is what caused the gall stones. While at the doctors office reading a magazine, I read an article about Sparkpeople and decided to try it. I joined on March 11th and I said to myself, this is it. I can't deal with being miserable with myself and being fat any longer. I had just lost my closest aunt to cancer and it was a very sad time for me. I thought about how much she loved life! She had breast cancer first and they removed the cancer and she was cancer free for years. Then about two years prior to her death on February 16, 2007, the cancer had come back in her colon. She told the family about it but she told us that they were trying a new treatment and it was working fine. It was until January of 2006 that we found out that the doctor had told her two years ago that they had done all they could do. She didn't want us to worry about her and she lived the rest of her two years to the fullest until the cancer took over. On her death bed she told me that it was in the Lord's hands and not to cry and not to worry that she was going to be alright. She left behind three children, all of which are grown, but so unprepared to live life without her. She had babied them so much that they are barely functioning right now. I'm telling this story to say this: I thought about Diane when I decided to go on this diet and get healthy because I admired her strength. I admired how even though she knew the cancer was taking over she never let it show, she lived life and she fought long and hard . The doctor told us that he couldn't believe that she had lived a year over what they had expected her too. She was in so much pain but she still pressed on for the sake of her children and her family. I'm living and the things that I was doing to my body, I was doing to myself. The thought of my children going through what my cousins were going through devastated me and to think that I had an opportunity to get healthy and be an example to mine made me even more motivated. I knew it would be hard but I was 240 pounds. I didn't even want to take my kids shopping I was so lazy. I promised myself that I would not give up no matter what obstacles I went through. If you go back and read all of my blogs, you'll see that it wasn't easy for me!! Stay focused and if you ever need any support, I'm here. It's time to win your life back. Thank you for making my day with your kind words.
