starting some new habits and having fun

In September 2011, I am going to be 57 years old, and it's time to get going! Over the last 8 years I have used the excuse of a few health issues to gain 70 pounds. Also, in all honesty, I've gotten a little lazy and complacent. No more! I don't feel well and I don't like how I look or shopping in the plus size shops. Most of all, I don't wish to be a bad example for my two daughters who are in their teens and need a mother with energy and good health. And so I start today.

I will begin by walking 5 days a week, drinking 8 glasses of water, and paying attention to my nutrition plan(particularly in regards to my evening snacking).

Hi, Thanks for the comment!

I have read all of Georgette Heyer's romance books, most of her mysteries, and Lord John which is a fictionalized history. Isn't she THE best! Her characters and dialog can not be beat. I wish I could find another just like her. I have 5 daughters and 4 of them have become fans of Georgette Heyer too. I would guess when the youngest is old enough to read she might join in the fun too.

I have also read many of the other clean romance writers but being a hungry reader I have trouble holding back when I find a good writer.

I found Ann Barker not long ago and I have not read an entire book of hers but I read sample chapters on 2 online sites. I am so excited to see how good she is. She has a web page with descriptions of her books.

Which of the Heyer books is your favorite?

Thank you for your comment on my blog! I love that all your ideas for overcoming my (anticipated) winter blahs had to do with helping others. That is such an important point! I've never knitted or crocheted for our local community-warmth project, but a good friend is the coordinator so it would not be hard. Maybe this is a good year to start. I do enjoy that kind of thing when it's cold outside, and making things for the homeless and poor would be a good reminder of what the real priorities are in life.

Added you as a friend!

Thank you for visiting my blog. That block is the 4th Square in Grandmother's Choice blocks. I'm having fun doing them all.

Thanks for sharing your favorite healthy breakfast with me. I like the maple and brown sugar oatmeal too. Your additions sound great and like they add an extra measure of healthiness to it.

Thanks for your encouraging comments on my Good Intentions & Bad Plans blog. I like your idea for a party. Thinking of healthy hors d'oeuvres would also be kinda fun. Ü
